Some of you might get your wish with Krug. I've assumed that Perunovich would go, but the idea that they both can't fit into the same lineup is likely correct. If you can move Krug, Perunovich would provide a similar level on the PP, and we'd free up a lot of flexibility to add the right piece to the top 4. \
Tarasenko still has his trade request. I'm expecting a move at the draft since the chances we extend him are near 0, so time to get some value and create cap space for Perron/Leddy/etc.
Yep. I think those that want him gone because he isn't good are wrong. Those that want to move him because of cap reasons or not thinking Krug and Perunovich both have a future here are correct. And if you are going to keep one, you'd rather keep the cheaper one that you can more easily shelter.I think Krug is much better than some on here give credit for, but someone who makes fairly big $ is gonna have to go if we are going to commit to Thomas and Kyrou long term, which seems to be plan. Just letting Vladi go isn’t gonna be enough.
It might not even be that, but simply that if we want money to sign Thomas and Kyrou long-term, and make a competitive offer to keep O'Reilly, we need to move money out. Especially if Thomas/Kyrou have another near ppg or ppg+ season, then they will easily be able to ask for 7+ and earn it.Seravalli has been dead on recently so he must have good intel from someone (other than Doug) that Krug was being shopped.
I'm wondering if Armstrong didn't make a few calls on Krug to free up space to acquire McDonagh.

I honestly believe we are going to see some fireworks. The writing is on the wall that this team needs to be able to play faster to keep up with the speed of Colorado and some of the other top teams. If the rumors are true this is gonna be a hell of a offseason for us entertainment wise
Necas/Tarasenko is something I've been thinking about for awhile when it was reported they sort of soured on him.Just as interesting to me as Krug's name popping up here was the name dropping of Carolina regarding Tarasenko. They are already getting a little thin on D for a team that wants to be a contender, and the only guy they have that fills our need (Slavin) is the guy that is probably least available. I doubt they would let Jarvis go, but I wonder if Necas would be available if they could talk extension with Tarasenko since they don't have a first rounder this year to offer at the moment.

I’d be surprised to see Tarasenko fetch a top ten pick as a rental. If he comes with an extension that obviously would change things.I've been expecting a Tarasenko-trade at the draft for a while and have been wondering how high of a pick he can command, assuming he's heading somewhere where he's willing to sign an extension. One year remaining at $7.5M/yr for a 30-goal/80-point guy is an amazing deal. If some team sees him as a 5-year fix, I could see the Blues getting a pick in the 8-18 range as part of a Tarasenko-return.
The Krug development is surprisingly positive. I wouldn't expect anything to come; but if $14M is freed by getting assets back for those two guys...that would fuel the 'retool-on-the-fly' approach that GMDA loves so much.
My read on his personality is Tarasenko likely has little interest extending anywhere that isn't going to be a playoff team, which might eliminate a lot of those possibilities.I've been expecting a Tarasenko-trade at the draft for a while and have been wondering how high of a pick he can command, assuming he's heading somewhere where he's willing to sign an extension. I don’t think Detroit would be all that interested in Krug. He just doesn’t seem like an Yzerman type player to me.Krug to DET for their 2022 2nd round pick from WSH.
Is that lame?
Not sure about that, but a bigger question is whether DET has any Krug-lite prospects getting close to the NHL. If so, then that would take them out of the picture.I don’t think Detroit would be all that interested in Krug. He just doesn’t seem like an Yzerman type player to me.
What do we get for potential Krug trade?
Tarasenko?
That I’m not sure of. Another thing I just thought of, Krug and Hronek are very similar players. Krug is better but both are undersized offensive defensemen who get pushed around in their own zone. Not sure about that, but a bigger question is whether DET has any Krug-lite prospects getting close to the NHL. Zackly. If we don't want two Krugs, then why would another team want two Krugs. That I’m not sure of. Another thing I just thought of, Krug and Hronek are very similar players. Krug is better but both are undersized offensive defensemen who get pushed around in their own zone.
Only way we could be in on Forsberg is if we moved Tarasenko and didn't resign 1 of Perron/Thomas/KyrouIf Servalli's intel on Tarasenko is true and he is moved for futures in the next week, I wonder if we jump into the Forsberg market or save the cap space for filling the Top 4 LD need.
