Blackhawks actually make a ton of sense. Both teams have similar type players where they could just do an even swap.

So, it does sound like we are one of the teams interested in DeBrusk.

NHL Rumors: The Boston Bruins Are Getting Plenty of Interest in Jake DeBrusk - NHL Rumors

Not super interested for what I expect the cost to be. He's 25 and hasn't been good for two years. And when he was good, he got a lot of his goals by just standing in front of the net and having a member of an electric powerplay shoot the puck in off his stick. Krejci, especially, created so many of DeBrusk's goals back then. There's definitely something to be said for a fast player who can play in front of the net and deflect pucks, but he's damaged goods. If you trade for him, even though he has a chance to bounce back, you have to expect a guy who only generates a couple shots per game and will get 15+ goals if he miraculously stays healthy for the entire season. You're basically talking about Zach Sanford, except he's fast and can't kill penalties or fill in at center.

If you pay the value of a 15 goal powerplay specialist with health and effort problems and you replace Neal with him, that's fine. But I think you probably get burned badly paying the value of a bidding war over a 20+ goal rising star.

If the Coyotes are for sale, wouldnt it be nice to be on the other side of a Pronger situation? Let's dial up our old buddy Billy Armstrong and see which of his former picks and upcoming Blues draft picks it would take to get Jakob Chychrun in a Blues sweater.

He was salivating over the Perunovich pick. I'd dangle Joel Hofer too.

Scandella, Perunovich, Hofer, 2022 1st, 2024 2nd for Chychrun? Given that Coyotes already retained on OEL, I wouldn't expect them to retain even the smallest amount of salary on Chychrun.
Perunovich and Scandella account for 4.2M cap charge vs. Chychrun's 4.6M. Would need to figure out how to clear the remaining space needed.

What does Debrusk add that we don’t already have in spades? I’m sure Army looked into it to see if he could get him on the cheap, because he is a useful player, but I doubt he’s willing to pay a premium for a forward.

There is no trade for Chychrun that would make sense between the Blues and Yotes. Getting Chychrun is an unrealistic pipedream. We could look at Gio or Leddy if we're looking for a top 4 LHD.
While it may be unrealistic, who thought the Blues would sell Pronger for what we did? Factor in the history with Arizona's current GM.. Just let me dream, okay?

After seeing Perunovich the last couple weeks I gotta say absolutely f***ing no.

Boston fans are convincing themselves they can get Tarasenko for DeBrusk+. Just lol at that.

I stopped by their trade thread to see what was.....Bruin.....and noticed the link to the recent Seravelli column in which he believes Tarasenko has not rescinded his request. I think we all would love to see a reconciliation and another deep playoff run and while that certainly may happen, we also have to be realistic. If Tarasenko is going to be traded at some point, we have to at least consider moving him while his value is as high as can be.

So even though we went through this in the offseason, what teams would realistically be interested now? The Bruins could certainly use him but it would take a lot more than Debrusk to interest me. I probably wouldn't be interested in JDB at all considering our forward depth and his high QO next year. Then again, if the + was big enough (and it would have to be fairly substantial) and Debrusk can regain his 20+ goals per season pace then it could be a win for the Blues long term.

Not in a hurry to trade Vladi, just curious what we could get for him now that he looks like his old self again and what teams would realistically pay full value for him.

Yeah, we are bad trade partners for Tarasenko. Their prospects are pretty poor too.
Us and Boston are in about the same spot. Two good RHD, pretty good to excellent forward group (except theirs is older and closer to the end of their window) and a pretty barren prospect pool.

I really don't want to upset team chemistry too much this year. But if the trade persists into this season, I'd consider sending Tarasenko to Boston.

Debrusk doesn't really move the needle much. His value is at it's lowest. I'd imagine Boston would want to make the move close to salary neutral which would require Blues to retain 50%. I don't see any other NHL contracts to help offset the money.

What ever became of Vaakanainen? He still hasn't broken through to the NHL level but was a breakout star in the making. What about 2020 2nd round LD Mason Lohrei? Not sure what other futures they have.

Does DeBrusk, Vaakaanainen, 2022 1st for Tarasenko at 50% interest anyone? Cap and $ neutral for this year. Blues would enter next season with 3.75M in dead money with DeBrusk's money likely coming off the books. For next season, this would free up money to extend Perron and also open a roster spot for one of the kids, whether it's Neighbours or someone else while giving the Blues a piece that slots into the Top 9 for this year.

Another possibility could be Sundqvist in a deal. We have more than enough PK guys now, and due to injury, Barbashev has probably surpassed him as the utility guy on the roster.

I'm not saying he'd be used for anyone specific, just that I wouldn't be surprised if he's someone used in a deal.
