If tomorrow goes the way I expect it to I likely won't be posting here again for a long time. I took an extended break during the year and it was honestly the perfect call. I signed off from the main board before the puck even dropped on game 1, and given how things have unfolded, that was prescient. I figured this series was always going to be an uphill climb, but the way things have gone have made this far worse than I ever really guessed. Last night was embarrassing from the Blues, the Kadri fiasco is out of control, almost just ready for it to be done with already.

I'm right there with you bud. Between how the teams reacting, how the fanbase is reacting. Everything is just making me want to take a break from hockey.

There's nothing wrong with taking a step back and analyzing your relationship to sports, or any entertainment. It's just sports, none of it actually matters. If the experience is a net negative for you, there's no reason to keep it up.
You’re right, this is definitely true. Something I’ve gone out of my way to get better about is avoiding things that only serve to irritate me. The thing is, I love sports. But I hate the way people react to - in increasingly depraved ways - what happens in the games.

I have had to deal with people at their absolute worst in the past 2 days. I hate people right now.

About the only time I've looked at the mainboards during the playoffs was right after we won the cup. The whole seabrook hit on Backes fiasco many moons ago made me realize it is much better to avoid the general community. Too much of a cesspool, regardless of the situation.

Much less stressful reading just the hfblues board and even hfblues can be hard to read at times.

I haven't even needed to look at the main board, just trying to view a post on the Blues' twitter page has shown the Avalanche's fans to be the most vile fanbase I've ever seen. StL and Chicago have had sports rivalries for more than a century and I've never seen this level of toxicity.

The other disappointing thing is how the NHL has become a clownshow with a WWEesque kayfabe. I never thought soccer would overtake one of the big 4 in the US, but with the direction the NHL is headed I could see MLS overtaking them in the next 10-20 years.

Yeah, the standard that coaches need to comment on every bad thing a fan does on social media is just weird. I could maybe see the argument if fans at Enterprise did what some soccer fans do in Europe where entire sections will be chanting racial slurs at a player, but I don't think a coach should be forced to comment on clowns on social media.

If someone want to sling some mud around with them, they could bring up Bednar and Denver media being quiet about the Caiden Shaw incident. Don't throw stones when you live in a glass house.
The funniest thing is, Bednar already came out and agreed with Berube that it’s not his responsibility to handle those questions and comment on it. He said it was fine that he did that. Bednar actually seems pretty level-headed.

And yet you still have Avs fans that are now acting like they know better than him and are saying Bednar is wrong too. They legitimately think they know better about what coaches are supposed to say even though none of them have ever been in that position. Just a special level of arrogance and delusion.

I agree with the above. All of my non Blues fan friends asking me today Why I support such a team. I just want to crawl into a hole and die. I love and watch hockey to get away from the nonsense in the world. I might just take a step back until this whole thing blows over if it ever does.

I finally learned a few years ago to stop giving a f*** what other people think. You can try until you're blue in the face to get people to see things from a different point of view, or in a more rational way but unless they want to its not going to happen. This applies to pretty much every facet of life. Does it bum me out to see people just generalizing the entire fanbase along with our coach as racist? Of course it does, but no amount of arguing is going to change those peoples minds. Just let it go, stop bickering with the idiots and try to enjoy your life outside of hockey people, makes things a lot less stressful.

You could ask your friends why they're not smart enough to think for themselves rather than letting social media and news networks trying to peddle outrage decide it for them.

Oh you're in Canada, yeah just find a good hole.

Don't they teach Animal House in school anymore?
Most of these kids refuse to watch any movie made before 2000 including Star Wars lol.

Anyone else see this BS today from USA today.

The NHL needs to ban St. Louis' David Perron and Pavel Buchnevich for a very long time

Media is loving this.
Meanwhile the Chicago Blackhawk are allowed to operate with their offensive logo and sexual misconduct running all the way up the line.

Lose me with that nonsense.

Is that the media? I think that’s some freelance throwaway clickbait article they paid someone 50 cents to write. I could be wrong.

That said, WTF is that crap? Suspended for what? The idea that Kadri has been turned into some sort of hero is gross. The fact that our entire organization and fan base is being dragged through the mud over this is insane. Shame on anyone pushing that narrative.
This whole thing is just unbelievable.

And they’re petty enough to demand the firing of longtime NCAA D1 Saint Louis Billikens basketball announcer Bob Ramsey. They’re by far the most bitch made, sissified fanbase I’ve ever come across.

I’m not optimistic about getting past the Avs this time, but I hope that the Blues can win tomorrow with a chance to tie it up at home.

Next game. Move on. Let’s go Blues!
