You know last night I was so f***ing down, I said the season was over and the Blues were done. You know what this morning I am feeling like I was wrong. The Blues are going to come back and make a series out of this and I think they can still win this damn thing. I think the biggest key is going to come down to Berube. A great coach knows when to ease off and when to press buttons and it is button pressing time. Today in practice and tomorrow during the skate he needs to be in the face of every player not named RoR or Perron and call them out. Remind them that THEY let that scum of player Kadri take our out of goaltender and then punk us on our own ice two days later. Question their mettle, I want to see a pissed of Thomas, Vladi, Barby ect ect on the ice Wednesday. They need to come out tomorrow with Jordan Binnington confidence with the mindset of f*** yeah were heading home... for game 6 and win that game in dominant fashion.

Blues win tomorrow, they win the series. I truly 100% believe that.
I would love to have what you smoked or drank, my friend.

Yeah I have to say that headed into this series I gave the Avs WAY TOO MUCH credit and the Blues not nearly enough. I'm not sure what the rest of the PO's holds for the Avs but I'm not that impressed by them tbh. Good team of course but I think they run into a bigger fish.

The Blues shut down the Avs big guns. But our goaltending is suspect under Husso and, more importantly, the Avs depth guys are performing while ours are not.

Also I don't normally cheer against our opponents once they've beat us but sometimes I will actively cheer against them and this is one of those times for sure.
Agreed.

The Avs have some great players who I respect. They have a good coach too.

But the media darling treatment, Kadri's antics, and the asshat behavior of their fans here make me cheer for everyone but them. May they never touch the Cup.

This. Many Blues fans, understandably, wanted to see Schenn or Barbie or Borts or whomever F Kadri up on the ice. Retribution for Faulk last year and Binny. This is I think normal fandom and within bounds of what guy like Kadri should expect.

A handful of idiots on social media crossed line and made idiotic, racist, threats towards Kadri and his family. This isn't okay. No matter how big of a douche he is on the ice, it stays on the ice. And racist attacks are never okay. We should all condemn these attacks rather than let this fool get to claim moral high ground. Because F him.

Not sure the Blues can win 3 in a row, especially with how porous Husso is in goal and the non-existence of more than half our top nine.

Thomas has been the biggest disappointment this postseason, just looks like he has no will to go to the dirty areas and battle for the puck. Good players want the puck. Great players go and get it themselves. He needs to step it up if he wants to earn a big contract. He's still young and has room to grow, but I haven't seen much advancement in this area.

Tarasenko is in a similar boat with Thomas for me though his statistics are certainly much better thanks to a hat trick against the Wild. For someone so big and sturdy on his feet, he really doesn't like to use that to his advantage when he doesn't have the puck. I watch Landeskog and he's always in the middle of it trying to retrieve the puck, and then I watch Tarasenko who goes for a one handed jab and thinks that somehow it's going to get glued to his stick. Pitiful to watch.

I wish I could comment on Barbashev's play but I can't because I don't think I've seen him once this postseason.

Schenn has been a physical force though he's really toeing the line with some of his hits. I'd rather see him put up some points though like he did in the regular season.

Kyrou has been very hit or miss, and more often times it's a miss. He's scored some big goals for the Blues and certainly has made more of a presence in the offensive zone, but his lapses in the defensive zone are outweighing those contributions. A myriad of soft plays and turnovers from him that have lead to great chances by the Avs or straight up goals.

Buchnevich had a rough start to the postseason but he's been pretty effective in the series against the Avs. He's done well defensively, and is up to nine points (though only one goal). I believe he's had a point in every game against the Avs. I'm pretty satisfied with his play.

Saad is what he is. No one expects him to be a driver on his line but he could be doing a lot more.

Perron has been good on the PP but I think he's been pretty useless at even strength, to be quite honest. His lack of foot speed and some questionable decisions with the puck have been masked by his effectiveness on the PP. Can't get too fussed at it though, as I'd rather have a good PP specialist than be the Panthers who couldn't score on the PP to save their lives. His dirty antics are pretty annoying to watch though and he needs to cut down on that and play some hockey.

ROR has been dynamite all playoffs and has shown why regular season is important but not the end all be all. Just an absolute beast in all three zones, from shutting down Mackinnon to driving most of our offense. It shouldn't be a discussion if we have to choose between ROR and Tarasenko next year, you re-sign ROR 100%. A true captain performance by him that's being wasted because everyone else doesn't have the heart to battle like he does.

Yeah what's pathetic is that Kadri felt motivated by his victim role playing while engaging in identity politics, only losers play that game.

true and im not even sure most of those people they showed are even real accounts.

the 3 i looked at all were obvious bots but im not wasting my time to look at every single 1.

well they might win a cup if they get to play 2 more teams backup and AHL goaltenders.

i still say blues got a shot at this if chuckie plays. guess we will see.

I mean, how dare us fans in St. Louis not be big fans of a guy who got suspended for concussed a key player last year and then this year injures our starting goaltender who was playing out of his mind.

All of these "revenge" articles are such piss poor sloppy terrible journalism. It's such a garbage storyline.

The painting of the entire fanbase and organization as racists is disgusting and anyone doing it on these boards should be banned.

It really was a brilliant PR move to put the focus on few awful tweets. I mean, how many online messages do you think Kadri has gotten like that in his career? I'm guessing thousands and thousands. Every public figure gets them all the time. It's not okay. It ****ing sucks and I hate it, but let's not act like anything new or novel is happening here now. Suddenly it's a big news story? Give me a break. Get the hell out of here with that garbage. It was such a calculated stunt.

Yes, the whole fanbase, the whole state, the whole team... a bunch of vile racists. GET THE **** OUT OF HERE WITH THAT ****.
You could see what was coming the moment something surfaced with racial undertones on Twatter.. To be honest, I've been looking for a reason to abandon watching sports for the last couple years now, and I think this was the thing to finally push me over the edge. From the gutless move by Kadri himself, to the embarrassing over the top reactions by the simps on the asylum and the reaction to that by painting the whole organization and city as bigoted racists.
I lived in Colorado for 7 years, by far the most racist collective of people I've met in any of the 19 states I've been to in my 35 years. Definitely something I was not anticipating from the natives when I first moved there.

It's just how media works these days unfortunately. Rather than do responsible reporting you just search for the most extreme outliers and then wildly extrapolate to inflame passion and drum up radicalism. Some people do that maliciously to push an agenda, but it's simply the model that generates the most clicks and therefore revenue so everyone does it.

All I know is that Avs fans on this board are conducting themselves in a pathetic shameful manner.

Like, next level awful. I can't believe that the moderators are letting them get away with half the crap they are doing. I'm never posing another thing on any board but this one and I'm even questioning whether or not to stick around here. This place is a rancid hellhole of negativity and toxicity.

I guess when you don't have various fanbases interacting, it shows up less, but man, are people just awful. And that goes for plenty of Blues fans as well. I honestly don't know what's wrong with people. People should be embarrassed. I'm embarrassed for them.

Yeah Kadri is dealing with things he shouldn’t have to. I suspect at any point, a player could share some of what comes their way, and we would cringe. That’s not to say that’s ok, but to say there was a purpose to the management of it, and a compliant media does what they do from there.

I don’t see Berube’s “no comment” as a character defect. It was utterly predictable. He answers hockey questions in about 2-4 words usually. He’s not going to hold court on that question. He knows Kadri took out Faulk. He knows he took out Binnington. He knows Toronto simply had to part ways with him to avoid getting suspended in the playoffs for them, yet again, or he’d be getting hateful shit from his own fans.

He knows what the media game he is playing would be with that line of questioning, and he wasn’t going along.

No moron that is going to post hateful crap is going to be influenced in the least by what Berube does or doesn’t say.

I told myself at the beginning of this series after reading a couple pages of the discussion thread that I would not go back. From page 1, you could tell what kind of Colorado fans were on the main boards. In general, the main boards are just the most obnoxious of each fanbase trying to create a stir from others.

Over games 1 and 2, I lurked a little bit over on their board and I never got the impression that the COL fans were all that bad. They seemed like grounded and knowledgeable folks. I won't check now because of the obvious bad blood in the series at this point but those main boards is an absolute no go for me moving forward for likely the entire playoff regardless of if we move on or get knocked out.

At the end of the day, I come here to soak in information on the Blues. This subforum is the only spot I need in order to fulfill that.

As someone who's given to SPLC and whose political grounding came at 9 when Reagan taunted dead civil rights workers by giving a states rights speech in Neshoba, the idea that Kadri is the victim here is sickening. The idea that a native American coach not commenting on the cesspool that is twitter replies over which he has no control makes him racist, well, it's something I'm going to hold against the Colorado Avalanche and their fans permanently.

Yeah, the standard that coaches need to comment on every bad thing a fan does on social media is just weird. I could maybe see the argument if fans at Enterprise did what some soccer fans do in Europe where entire sections will be chanting racial slurs at a player, but I don't think a coach should be forced to comment on clowns on social media.

If someone want to sling some mud around with them, they could bring up Bednar and Denver media being quiet about the Caiden Shaw incident. Don't throw stones when you live in a glass house.

Yeah, it’s cheap moral peacocking that provides no actual remedy to anything but does hurt someone along the way.

Sometimes we all get caught up in the social media stupidity. Myself included.

I took the dog for a walk and made peace with it all. Time to move on to the next game and probably the next season.

The fact is 99.99% of the world doesn't give a rip about this series. Really, the only folks who care are in STL, COL, and maybe other hockey markets in the USA and Canada. Even then, most fans in these areas are not all that invested in the day to day drama and ignore it. This will all be forgotten a week from now, 6 months from now, a year from now, etc.

There is a sub element here and in Twitter that loves the drama, loves to claim virtue points over the other guy, loves to rub the other team's noses in it, etc. Some of this is part of being a sports fan. Some is just the work of a few trolls and their followers. Much of the really bad stuff (i.e anonymous racist Tweets) is accelerated and amplified by social media. These Tweets in their own right are bad, but following closely behind are the folks who hope to capitalize on them by tarring their opponents with that stink. It's standard asshattery nowadays. You just have to tune it out. I rarely go to the general forums and I only post in another team's forum to congratulate them or send a positive message. The last time I did that was to compliment the Dallas netminder who played what I consider the best goaltending of these playoffs against the Flames in game 7. That was special.

This. ROR may be neutralizing McKinnon and Landeskog, but they are also neutralizing our leading and most dangerous scorer with no other Blue being dangerous enough to cause a shift in that strategy.
