Curious case of Marcus Semien. This is not a good year. Surely he is much better. Maybe he had such great protection last year and a big reason for large numbers. This year is abysmal so far.

Definitely no doctor but wouldn't surprise me Ryu needs a lot of time off, maybe TJ.

Jays need to take advantage of the upcoming schedule. The toughest team is the Twins and they have feasted on crap teams.

Does ownership have insurance policies on higher priced players? Or does each team have to pay out of their own pocket for long term injuries?

Saw the probables earlier this week lining up for a Ryu-Kopech matchup and thought my personal win streak would break... I also thought Kopech would throw a lot harder but I see his velo is drastically down this year as he was sitting 92-94 last night and only reared back for 97 a few times to get himself out of jams.

BA T100 Prospect List Updated

Prospect Note:

Gabriel Moreno:

Tools: Hit: 70 | Power: 50 | Run: 40 | Fielding: 55 | Arm: 60
A fractured thumb limited Moreno to 37 games last season, but he showed premium hitting ability, growing power and plus defense behind the plate when he was healthy. As long as he stays on the field, he projects to give the Blue Jays yet another young, homegrown all-star.
Ricky Tiedemann:

Tools: Fastball: 60 | Changeup: 70 | Slider: 55 | Control: 50
Lefthanders that throw in the mid 90s are rare, lefthanders that sit in the mid 90s as a starter with two plus secondaries are even more scarce. Tiedemann, the Blue Jays 2021 third-rounder, is that rare lefthanded starter that sits mid 90s on his fastball with plus secondaries in his sweepy mid-80s slider and parachute changeup.
Orelvis Martinez:

Tools: Hit: 50 | Power: 60 | Run: 40 | Fielding: 45 | Arm: 60
Martinez slugged 28 home runs across both Class A levels in 2021 to establish himself as one of the top young sluggers in the lower levels of the minors. He is unlikely to stay at shortstop, but his bat will play just fine at third base.

So Groshans falls out of the top-100 hitting .342 at Triple A with almost a .900 OPS in his age 22 season. With more walks (15) than K's (11)

Yeah, that's a total whiff by BA.

That was my first thought, too. If anything, the start he's having should have him back on the prospect radar, not falling off of it.

I'd be curious to see where Austin Martin is now considering their similarities (SS who may have to move off but hasn't yet, good contact/OBP profile but a distinct lack of power). Groshans is a year younger, a level ahead, and his numbers are miles better across the board so far (.447 OBP, 147 wRC+ vs. Martin's .372 OBP, 98 wRC+).

It's still a small sample because of the injuries, but I figured Groshans would have started getting some attention by now.

Austin Martin's numbers are so underwheming and the power output is actually pathetic for someone that was drafted as a hitting savant that it's looking like we definitely traded him before the rest of baseball figured out he was overhyped.

He has 6 home runs in his past 135 games.

Oh I get it. It's not really a complaint, I just want to see more of Jansen and Kirk both in the lineup.
Here's a fun fact (not aimed at you).

Over the last 14 days, the Jays two worst hitters have been Espinal and Guerrero Jr.

All of a sudden, some of the guys are starting to regress to the mean, which means that Tapia and Zimmer have been contributing quite nicely to the resurgence.

Don't look now, but Kirk is 9th in defense per Fangraphs and only getting better as time goes on.

Also, Bo is slowly moving up from the worst SS position (he was dead-last a few weeks ago).

Offence alive? Never you mind. Charlie benches any signs of life. The same way he pulls a guy with 87 pitches working on a shutout. Vladdy needs AB's? sit. Manoah in a groove? sit. Tapia sucks? play. Bullpen tired? he'll trot you out again. Charlie kills performance one way or the nother.
Somebody should tell Vladdy

And Groshans has his career best batting average and on base percentage (minors and high school) as a 22 year old in AAA who has missed a lot of development time since drafted (injury and loss of 2020)

According to this guy, Martin isn’t on the list;
