Because they don’t have the uber-competitive Yankee mentality? I don’t see anyone doubting Freddie Freeman’s competitiveness when he’s out there giving hugs to his teammates and opponents.

Context? and what does Freddie Freeman have to do with the Jays?

We literally rank 1st in strength of schedule lol. The weakness in our schedule is in what's remaining. I think our remaining SOS is close to the bottom.
You got that reversed, we had one of the weaker schedules and the 4th toughest from now to end of season.

They've had literally the hardest schedule of any team currently in a playoff spot. Did you just start paying attention two weeks ago or something?

Do you have a source for that? Anecdotally the schedule has been packed with good teams, and any source I've seen backs that up with the Jays being one of the league's strongest schedules to date.

That in addition to being third in the entire AL seems reason to believe this is a good baseball team.

Jays had the 6th hardest schedule to date, a few weeks ago it was the hardest. And the 9th easiest to finish the season.

And they are currently in a playoff spot, 4th in the AL, but a game ahead of the 3rd place team (Twins).

This team is truly poorly constructed.

When I see Vald, Lourdes, Springer laughing and clowning around when the other team is running up the score (not yesterdays game, other games this year), kinda shows what sort of give a S#IT level is in those players. You need players who take losing personally and get pissed. There is no doubting their skill, there are all kinds of questions about their will to compete. Bichette must be dieing inside seeing that childish horseshit.
This is a really bad take.

I am sure if this was the playoffs, you wouldn’t see them dancing or yakking it up like that. If you cry after every loss, this game will eat you alive. Even great teams will lose 60+ games in a season. You brush it off and on to the next one.

You don't find it weird that you've built a false equvliancy between discrimination in pro baseball in the US to a fan in Canada who has nothing to do with MLB. Because one thing is true this thing over here must be true too. Its weird that you assume because there is racial profiling in the States, that has to be true everywhere else.

It's weird to want them to be slightly bothered by losing? The emotion when you see your team getting kicked in the ass should not be smiling or dancing. Dancing is something you do when you celebrate. . Do you think I created that social construct? You're happy that your pitcher got hit around, your happy your teammate went 0 for. Can you recall the last time you watched pro athletes dancing and carrying on when they lost? As I said before its childish and not a place for the baseball dugout.

What you've glossed over were my words " It's childish" which is all you need to know, its an immaturity thing not a pigment thing. To suggest other wise is irresponsible and lazy.

For one thing, I didn't bring up the race thing. I just tried to explain it to you when someone else brought it up. You don't have to live in the US to be aware of the long history of race issues in baseball. But hey, I'm happy to learn "racial profiling" doesn't exist in Canada!

Having fun, win or lose, is a huge part of baseball culture in Latin America. You think it's "childish", but it seems like maybe they just don't take themselves as seriously in the moment as you want them to. I would recommend reading Jose Bautista's piece from the Players Tribune, which includes this quote:

"The reality is that these guys came up playing baseball in an entirely different atmosphere. Come down to the Dominican Republic and experience it yourself. We’re loud. We’re emotional. We’re always singing and dancing. We love to laugh and have a good time. It’s ingrained in our DNA. And it doesn’t change when we’re playing baseball. To us, baseball isn’t a country club game. It’s our national pastime, and it comes packed with emotion."

Atkins needs to desperately give Montoyo another left handed bat to play with. Why is Tapia in the lineup again and hitting 5th? Unbelievable that this guy will get 400-500 atbats this year.

Lets not let facts get in the way now.

We don't actually need a LHB. We hit righties quite fine. It's just yeah the lefty he does have at his disposal isn't very good and plays entirely way too much.

No Kirk today lol

Unreal
Let's be honest when it comes to Kirk. He's not an athlete.

We saw what playing every day when Jano went down early did to his bat. Him (and Springer) I buy needing rest days as they haven't proven to be effective when playing every game (or in Springers case it's about staying healthy)

Really dont understand how being surrounded by professional trainers, nutritionists and all you friends in the gym constantly that one can't find it easy to stay in shape. Huge pet peeve of mine when a professional athlete has an amateur coach potato body.

Some of you doomsayers need to chill. The Yankees have had a soft as baby shit schedule and are playing unreasonably healthy as well. Judge and Stanton haven't even made their annual trip to the DL yet, This will not last a full 162.

The gap between them is not as big as you think outside of maybe the bullpen.

Why does Vlad need to DH today? Seems like a missed opportunity to play your best lineup.. which includes Kirk and Moreno

I can't read Charlie's mind, and I'm not sure I'd want to. I'm just of the opinion that Springer, and to a lesser extent Kirk need non-baseball related days off to be their best selves.

If resting Kirk twice-ish a week gives you the 202 wRC+ we've gotten since Jano got healthy May 14th (and since Moreno took over) I don't see how you don't keep that up. Not to mention he's at least had an AB in 10 games straight before tonight.

Or maybe he just had a slow start and it has nothing to do with that?

Should we start benching Vlad to get more out of him too?

It's different with catchers because catching is tougher on the body when you have to squat behind the plate for the whole game.

If giving him a day off once or twice a week keeps him healthy all season and the Jays have the opportunity to slot in either Jansen or Moreno (both of whom can rake) in his place for those days, you take it.

And they do rest Vlad. Get usually gets a game a week at DH. Yes it's less than Kirk sitting out, but again there's a difference between the workload of a catcher and a 1B.

Don't look now but Tapia is heating up, LOL. Has actually been really good for almost 3 weeks now. Was horrible most of the year though.

One of my issues with him is he isn't even elite defensively for being so bad at times offensively. He's fast, but that's it on defense.
