What did they get out of? Tulo has a longer deal, for similar money and he's 29-years-old. The contract matter is a wash. He's signed through 2020 at big money. Reyes' deal was done after next year.

EDIT: My mistake, Reyes deal is longer than I thought. I thought the option kicked in after next year.

I thought Reyes was one if you were going to deal him, you'd end up eating half. I can't believe he got out of the contract, and got a better player.

It sucks losing Hoffman and Castro, but they upgraded their team from yesterday. And not for just 2 months of baseball either. That's a positive.

Maybe AA felt the price on starting pitching was too high and will take a run in the FA market in the offseason. I doubt it, but you don't know. I wouldn't want him to make a trade, overpay just to say, hey, we got a guy. Maybe they circle back on Carrasco.

But as of now, they're better.

So the Jays once again mortgage the future rotation for a question mark injury prone hitter. Time to get a real GM this is getting ridiculous.

There is still money to address the long term rotation issue in free agency. Jays still have some good young arms. It's not the end of the world.

Do you want a GM who just sits on his hands? He tried to acquire Carassco with no luck so made the next biggest upgrade he could for the next few years.

mortgaging the future is when you trade top prospects for a rental or average player. Tulo is a Top 3 player at his position......

I don't get it, why not?

How hard is it to get a flight from Denver (unless Colorado is on the road) to Toronto to be here in time for a 7 p.m. game?

Or could he not leave until the deal was official?

Rasmus, Happ, etc had the same issues. Visa issues I think. It's not just about getting here. You have to be eligible to work in the country.

But how does it work for visiting players?

I get he needs a work Visa, but couldn't he just play tonight like he's a visitor until that paperwork is ready?

Wish that were true. But he's an employee of a company based in canada. Comes with certain procedures I'm sure.

Well they were playing in Chicago, maybe he wanted to fly back to Denver to get some things and then get to Toronto.
