Binner is in the paint when he was interfered. this is the definition of goalie interference and should have clearly been a no goal.

the PP goal after clearly does not happen if the officials got it right on this play

sad stuff from the garage league tonight. between this, the mikkola call and the krug cross check

What a frustrating mountain of crap that game was. I was watching with my son and he asked me if I thought that was going to be goalie interference and my answer was... who the hell knows. I've been watching nhl hockey for like 30 years and I HAVE LITERALLY NO IDEA WHAT IS AND IS NOT GOALIE INTERFERENCE BECAUSE IT FEELS 100% COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY RANDOM. I've seen goalies get a slight bump a foot out of the paint and goals get called off. I've seen goalies get absolutely manhandled and nothing. Who knows? Flip a ****ing coin. Who the **** knows.

That goalie interference call on Mikola was the crappiest stupid bull**** penalty I've ever seen, and so was the the Krug cross check

They gave them a free 4 on 3 goal. Just put it on a platter and said, here ya go. A free goal.

He had it in his ****ing glove and Crosby knocked it out with his stupid ****ing knee.

I mean, what even is goaltender interference? Can anyone even answer that question? What does it even mean? It's meaningless. It means nothing. They may as well just flip a coin at center ice, because it's a complete and total farce.

Not saying we should, but say we took a run or two at Crosby, would his team actually stand up for him or would they back off? I'd like to see him check the s-it out of him on the boards, nothing illegal or bad, but real old-school strongman hockey kind of stuff. Would be great if Krug played like that, even if it was just to check Sid like that.

This loss is stupid but we did bloody the little bugger so we win in that column :).

when games like this happen, i would have no problem with players taking a run or cheap shots at people. atleast they would get their moneys worth for the inevitable 2 min penalty the refs were going to call on them anyways.

only thing worse than a ref fest game is when a playoff game becomes one.

That crosschecking call on Krug? I mean, what the hell was that? If that's a penalty, then there should be 500 penalties every single game. That is one of the weakest calls I have ever seen and it was 15 feet in front of the ref.

That was called for one reason and one reason only, because Sydney Crosby was bleeding. That's the only reason. That's the biggest gift on a. platter freebie call on such a nothing play I've ever seen. It was a complete and total joke. They just decided to hand the Pens a 4-3 on a silver platter because their star got a ****ing cut and then complained about it. That's it. Anyone who thinks anything else happened there is delusional.

It was a straight up gift. They just handed it to them on an absolute farce of a call. The most buttery soft bull**** call you will ever see ever.

I've never seen so many responses to a JR Tweet quoting Berube questioning the calls....all from knucklehead PIT fans. Its unreal. I'll take an COL fan over a PIT fan any day of the week.

If you read read the Twitter responses you'll see a lot of insecure PIT fans responding.

That fanbase is up there with the Avs.

For tonight, it kinda sucked. I think that's embellishment on the last penalty, but even so what is Bozak hoping to accomplish skating behind the net, holding a guy's jersey with that PP almost entirely killed. That's a dumb play on his part, even if the guy went down easy. Kyrou set up Tank twice just perfectly, and Tank's assist on Kyrou's goal was a hell of a play. I hope they give that line more time and don't go back to the Russian line. Those 3 are gonna click a few games and we aren't gonna need a whole lot more than that in the ones they do.

GOALTENDER INTERFERENCE from NHL.com

"The revised crease rule is intended to implement a "no harm, no foul, no video review" standard. The rule is based on the premise that an attacking player's position, whether inside or outside the crease, should not, by itself, determine whether a goal should be allowed or disallowed - i.e., goals scored while attacking players are standing in the crease may, in appropriate circumstances be allowed. Goals should be disallowed only if: (1) an attacking player, either by his positioning or by contact, impairs the goalkeeper's ability to move freely within his crease or defend his goal; or (2) an attacking player initiates more than incidental contact with a goalkeeper, inside or outside of his goal crease. Incidental contact with a goalkeeper will be permitted, and resulting goals allowed, when such contact is initiated outside of the goal crease, provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact."

Berube is right for the wrong reasons. It's not necessarily about whether Crosby's skate was in the crease or wasn't (on replay, it wasn't). The fact that Crosby's contact with Binnington impaired his ability to defend is goal when there wasn't a reasonable effort to avoid such contact makes the play goaltender interference.

The refs seemed to lose their wits when Crosby started bleeding. The call immediately afterward felt like a make-up call for what apparently was an injustice against Crosby? But good grief the goalie interference call and challenge were just flat-out wrong. The explanation they gave isn't consistent with the rules of the game.

All that aside, the Blues need to dig deeper and kill off that penalty after the failed challenge. Binnington deserved better tonight. I wish we could have seen overtime.
