We should have a thread of fatherisms (and momisms)

When I was working on something, he always would say , instead of get your work in front of you , he said " get your ass behind you"
My dad working on the boiler...

Dad: Pass me a hammer.
Me: I don't see a hammer.
Dad: Anything can be a hammer!

Now anytime anyone asks for a hammer in my house everyone says "Anything can be a hammah!

1. Im GM I need to know if it was this coach

2. Sacco temp ~ I’ll find my coach in offseason when assistant coaches are available and pool of head coaches is expanded

I’ll grocery shop at Whole Foods or Wegmans not White Hen Pantry or Seven Eleven, thank you

3. Jan 1 I’ve just had 6 weeks and 20 games without Monty

38 down and 44 to go

A. What’s our position
B. How we playing
C. Good place and add or hopeless and subtract

Steps need to be taken

and soon. Sweeney heading team Canada must be distracting.
Four Nations BS is just that.
I only care about one team, Boston Bruins.

Only in Boston would we have a coach who is 120-40-15 as Head Coach, a top six with 2 top six players on it and he is the one at risk of being fired NOT the management team...

Heard, but it’s also about the mental execution and that finger points at Monty. It’s not just that they need some more skill, it’s that everyone is playing like an idiot.

When the tournament comes up with my hockey buddies I call it the Bullshit Cup. Look at the talent that won't be there. Kucherov, Draisaitl, Pastrnak, Shesterkin, etc.

They should of just done a Canada vs. USA best of 5 or 7. That would of been much more interesting IMO. Your not playing any games in Europe. I wonder what the tickets sales will be like for Finland vs. Sweden games in NA.

There's a very "good" reason Sweeney personally shouldn't fire Monty right now.

Very little heat on him at the moment. Almost all of it on Monty. But what happens if Donald cans James and the team still sucks all the same?

I'll buy a ticket to that.

Can’t operate like that - they might as well replace Monty with the weatherman Phil Connors from Ground Hog Day for the third period

They are destined to go down the drain as is ~ he needs to move on

Monty is a good guy, good coach, but this is like a gazillion relationships where for whatever reason there is no passion - and without passion you are 8-8-2

Sweeney needs to act asap they aren’t even a quarter in but as Yogi Berra said ‘it’s getting late, early’

I simply can not believe that the Bruins are as bad as their record. I know what Berra said but on paper this looked like a big hard hitting team that needed to add one or two players with a scoring touch.
In the playoffs of '23 Monty didn't know what to do with the new additions except to confuse them.
Right now almost everyone looks confused and Montgomery looks as though he's checked out.
No answers.
Start with a new or an interim coach and see how the
rest of the season goes forth.
NO time to waste this must be done post haste.
That day is here.

When a team on the ice is out of answers, the coaching staff is supposed to help find them.
If the obvious is pointed out and the required message isn't getting through, it's on the coaching staff.
The Bruins had about 25% roster turnover. There is enough experience in the system to be competitive and that's pretty much what they aren't, competitive.
Time for a new voice. Also, the type of leaders that Chara and Bergy were, isn't taught. I think Marchand is in over his head. Not a big composure guy to begin with. Coyle, McAvoy, Pasta, are not born leaders.

Bruins are 4-2-2 in November a 102.5 clip with a special teams running near the bottom

Monday is 20 games the quarter mark

I would think Monty could go today but Sweeney could:

1. Let’s get to the quarter mark
2. They aren’t hot garbage giving up on their coach yet

I actually was surprised they been in pretty much every game this month

The Dallas game was the two games - for 35 minutes they were aggressive, engaged and right there - I thought they were better than Dallas and if not for the horse shit call on Lohrei are tied or ahead

Then Stankoven scores and they just wilt and basically carry the same step behind low energy into yesterday

Actually they are worse then their record

November 102.5 pace in 8 games ~ you don’t fire coaches over that

They win tomorrow and 5-2-2 for Month that’s 109 points

Gotta lose a few maybe fall 2-3 under

They been playing inconsistent but points are what matter

This month taking game temperatures

1. Flyers : Very strong road win
2. Seattle : outstanding performance
3. Leafs : penalties killed then but had jump till gave up multi PPG
4. Calgary - very strong upbeat game
5. Ottawa - third period zero shots, outplayed first two periods but got a point
6. Blues - ok for 2 periods the 3rd were a machine complete opposite of previous game
7. Dallas - very good for 35 minutes then adversity hit they packed it in
8. Blues - similar to Ottawa in got a point were a step behind

Step ahead games

Flyers
Seattle
Calgary

Step behind games

Ottawa
Blues - in Boston

Looked good, ok, bad/ugly

Toronto- started strong but after PPG folded
Blues- Fair at best but phenomenal third
Dallas- strong first half then adversity hit and they went South

The two games they were sleepy entirety were home games and they got points

Eye ball test who was better overall team that night 3-4-1 (Blues away game)

Conclusion- mental over physical

Maybe the players are tight, because they actually like their coach and know they are about to get him fired. Fear of mistakes can be paralyzing. Or they hate him and are silently moving the ball toward getting Monty canned.
Love to know what they really think.

I think it’s pretty near impossible to not like him - I keep hearing he’s a fantastic guy

I wish they would wake the F up - maybe tomorrow they win

Seems Sweeney hoping the mini home stand they can get some traction

Game 1 they got a point but no juice applies

Still say the Polkaroo.

I don’t get this

This sounds a good until you watch the team play like they have absolutely no system anymore and all the players don't seem to know what they are supposed to be doing from play to play. Thats on the coach, not talent. Too many players are having record lows this year so far for them all so fizzle out at the same time.

Inversely:

The games they were in or won were when their goaltender was clearly the best player on the ice.

Their offense outside of Pasta and the 4th line has been projecting career lows for everyone.

27th of 32 in Offense, 1st in PIMs, 4th in giveaways, 26th in PK, 32 in PP, and around 18-22 rank in most all other stats.

Consistency in mediocrity at best, league bottom at worst. This is a team projecting not to make the playoffs as of today.

Donny is rumored to be testing the market, but I am sure he is only finding anvils not life preservers. Which is the same he has to offer other teams atm.
A player coming in will not be enough to right this team outside of it barely staying afloat now.

The only thing you CAN easily change is the coach. Fault or not, get a new guy with a new system and give the team time to adjust their play.

The clock is ticking and the owner has no patience for non-playoff years.

Don is ready to make a decision IMO. But like us he is not sure what will fix this mess so he is looking at trades and if that fails he will resort to Monty being the Thanksgiving Turkey. Who replaces him will decide the season and that will all be on Sweeney and he knows it.
