As long as his own wood stays out of it, it's fine.
Wedgewood gets good wood on a pass to Wood, but it bounces off of Wood’s wood and finds its way to Blackwood out of play.

Hopefully it works out great for both teams. Hoping Kovalenko finds a solid role there and runs with it. Also, with you drafting our second, it actually has a chance of producing a player!
I get it… he was sold as a big hope and hope springs eternal. Just on the ice his play dramatically slipped as his effort couldn’t keep up with the grind. It’s natural, the level of motor to be a pure effort guy in the NHL is huge. Not having that level of motor isn’t a black mark, but leaves it to where does he really fit? And simply he wasn’t skilled enough to have a role here in the top 9. In San Jose, he’ll get a chance to show he has that skill and get more rope. I do hope he does show it.It's bizarre
And that he sucksIf it were on the table, I think we would have considered. The sticking point with Gibson is that it needs 50% retention for this season and also the two upcoming seasons.
He’s just a meh, dime a dozen player. Effort guys who are not supremely skilled are available at any point and not expensive.I wouldn't call it overrating him, it's just some of us did not want to lose a roster player given all the injury problems this season. Landy's probably not coming back, Val is one strike away, Drouin probably will go out again before the year is up, etc. And I think it's way too early to just give up on Kovy.
Don't get me wrong, Giev sucks and I'm glad he's gone, but the deal should've been for picks. It's not like Giev had years left on his deal, so a 2nd and 5th would've been fair value.
He has the talent of a 3rd liner but he wants to play like a 1st liner. Poor defense, can't play special teams. That's an issue.Avs fans! I cannot find an actual decent explanation of the kind of player Kovalenko is and I'm very curious. From what I gather he's a fast, sorta-skilled guy who is just getting his chance to play this year and is still adapting to NHL ice? What do you think his ceiling his? How has he looked for you so far? I feel like half the posts are like OH NO HE'S ONE OF OUR BEST PROSPECTS and the other are WHO CARES HE'S BARELY A BOTTOM 6 FORWARD so I don't know what's real.
Thanks! As I said on the main board, Blackwood has actually been fantastic this year and has had some incredible saves. He does his best when he sees a lot of rubber but he's been very good and it's a smart bet to take, I think. Also, Givanni Smith is actually a good 4th liner in my opinion, we just have a lot of them. He's fast and sometimes surprises you with his hands.

This was a big price for a meh goalie, but getting rid of the cancer has a price. Now we just gotta see how this duo will do.
Also, one thing is certain. CMac is still pushing. The Avs may not get back to contending, but it won’t be from a lack of effort by the front office. They are pushing and trying to get the right mix (while having limited assets and cap), and really that’s the best than can be asked of them.
It was the price in combination with the retention. Anaheim getting Trouba escalated the cost as they didn’t want even more ‘dead’ money. If it were on the table, I think we would have considered. Miles and miles of wood
I hope they get stuck with himIt was the price in combination with the retention. Anaheim getting Trouba escalated the cost as they didn’t want even more ‘dead’ money.
I think we'll know pretty soon what we have in him. I know he'll look good no matter what because we're all shellshocked from Georgie. I can't explain how calm I felt the first time Wedgie got in net. Like some bullshit wasn't about to automatically happen. From a stats perspective He’s 20th in Goals Saved above expected (Georgiev is 79th out of 80), his high danger saved percentage (0.842) is in the 85th percentile (Georgiev is below 50th percentile at 0.719) and has a significantly better save percentage than Georgiev at 0.910 vs 0.874.
I think Moser thinks Wedgewood is Hasek.
GrubauerI'm trying to think of an Avs goalie I hated more than George.
For a team with advanced statisticians so focused on AE/60 metrics, I'm a little surprised we went so hard in the wood directionCMac was able to wedge in miles of black wood.
What a little slut.
In this scenario, I bet they'd keep Colton at wing, and Kelly at 3C. Kiviranta to the 4th line.So in the event the Avs get healthy (I know, I know - someone gotta die) over the next couple of weeks we're looking at:
Drouin - MacKinnon - Rantanen
Lehkonen - Mittelstadt - Nichushkin
Kiviranta - Colton - O'Connor
Kelly - Ivan - Wagner
Toews - Makar
Girard - Manson
De Haan - Malinski
Blackwood
Wedgewood
Avs still need IMO 2 bottom-six forwards and a defenseman to either replace De Haan as a lefty or Malinski as a righty and preferably one that kills penalties and is physical.
Still work to be done. LOC and Kiviranta gotta play 4th line, not 3rd line.
