Points are points though right? I mean Haggerty out-score him as a junior by a good margin and this team needs more guys who can bury the puck.

Points are good, but comparing these kids year-to-year is a fools errand, IMO. Haggerty could step in and be a great player. So could Hayes. Why not have both just in case?

You know, as much as I would like to add Hayes as he would add another bigger forward for no assets besides money, why is Ryan Haggerty not getting more praise? Haggerty had 28 goals in 35 games as a junior. He s 21. Hayes had 27 goals as a senior. He is 22. Hayes played with Gaudreau.

Haggerty is 6'0, Hayes is 6'3. Hayes had 25 points in 27 games as a junior.

I like Hayes, this is in no way a post dumping on him, but if he could come in and grab a NHL spot, why can't Haggerty?

This works for me also.
At the moment percentages are Hayes to W, spec. RW w/NYR.

But --- while it is a thread the needle hope of percentages --- if Hayes can make C and click with Kreider, I'm good with Kreider - Hayes - Haggerty

Miller, who also has speed, goes to the speed line Hagelin - Miller - MSL

I thought you wanted Kreider to play center.

@MarkDivver: Expecting news on Kevin Hayes by day's end. Was told a month ago that Avs were frontrunners. Will be interesting to see how it turns out.

@BlueshirtBanter: New York Rangers Rumors: Kevin Hayes Expected To Make A Decision Today http://t.co/k7186Evulc

@NHLexpertpicks: UFA Kevin Hayes expected to make decision on where he will sign by the end of the day.

LeBron Hayes amirite?

This is just getting annoying now.

Kinda.

It's because we're all starved for ANY hockey news and we're supposedly in the mix.

I doubt he signs here, and I don't mind. It'd be a fun "freebie" though. Another shiny new toy. And we all love our new toys round these parts, haha.

Can the season start now pls?

I hope we get him, would be nice to have another good potential player, but its not the end of the world if not.

Totally agree. He should absolutely make this decision right now because certain fans are impatient.

Totally agree. That's exactly the point I was trying to make. Truly scholar-esque rebuttal.

It would be nice to grab Hayes though. I'd say his stock is higher than a lot of our prospects that will be in camp competing. Either way it makes for better competition.

Hayes is obviously the next Gretzky. Let's give him a 30 year contract worth $400 million. EDIT 50 years for $1 billion. Hayes is the exception to the CBA. A player of his caliber makes his own rules. You just can't pass up on this once in a universe kind of talent. Not even aliens from across the universe that have mastered genetic engineering could engineer a better hockey player, let alone a better leader in the locker room. Lets forget that Hayes has a choice in where he signs and just because he doesnt sign with us it automatically makes it Sather's fault he didn't get signed. Sather historically has been a great GM with the Rangers, bringing us great success, and I will define his career as a GM based on whether or not he signs Kevin Hayes, the one who will supplant Gretzky as GOAT. Gretzky will be known as simply "The Good One" by the time Hayes retires. If the Rangers fail to sign Hayes, it will be the single biggest mistake in the history of this franchise.

/sarcasm

not sure what part of that is supposed to be the sarcastic part...

I thought you wanted Kreider to play center.

Since Chris had played some C and it was a sore spot for us, I was willing to consider, perhaps even experiment with it. If his puck handling/vision is up to it at NHL level --- having that speed and power to cut through the middle, without opposition being able to use boards vs. CK, was an appealing thought.

Subsequently, he was settled in at LW.
I then said, ok, go with that, but once you have that fully comfortable if not mastered, then, as a supplementary experience, try C. Be our Patrick Sharp there. Guy who regularly plays W, but could C in a pinch.

Hayes is a new X factor in the equation --- if he signs with us and is that good.

The Rangers treat their players very well

« J'aurais adoré demeurer avec les Rangers. C'est l'un des endroits où j'ai le plus aimé jouer dans la LNH. C'est incroyable comment l'organisation traite ses joueurs », a noté Pouliot.

"I would have loved to stay with the Rangers. This is one of the places I most enjoyed playing in the NHL. It's amazing how the organization treats its players, "noted Pouliot.

I wish players had more respect for the attention span of their fans these days. That's really what separates the modern athlete from the days of yore.

I'm glad we see eye to eye on this.

Hayes is just setting a terrible example
