The Oilers are still pretty weak on RW though
Eberle is a lock.
Puljujarvi hasn't been that impressive and most Oiler fans want to see him start in the AHL
Versteeg is hurt and I havent been that impressed.
Kassian is a 4th liner
Draisaitl experiment?

Slepyshev has been great in camp/preseason ...he himself is already become more valuable to TM IMO. And get this..Slep is a guy TM doesn't have to plug beside McDavid in order for him to do anything note worthy :amazed:

This would be a great trade for the Hawks. Perhaps McNeill & 3rd for Yak at 50%?

Yak has been a bust so far but he still has skill and in the right environment has the potential to redeem himself....

I've always thought Yak would fit on the Hawks and was kind of surprised Bowman didn't go after him at the deadline albeit we did land Ladd but....

Get it done Stan.

Wow, wouldn't have thought the Hawks would be interested in a guy like him. But I guess it could give Yak a place to try to get his game back together. I guess we'll see what happens.

Why would the Hawks do that though? Aren't they deeper at RW than they are on defense? Seems like a really odd move unless they're getting back a non-crap defender from the Hawks.

We're too deep on D. We have a really good young D-man in Forsling who has been "special" this preseason, according to Q. Everyone who knows Q knows he doesn't just say "special" about guys unless he really likes them. So we have basically 7 D-men and an 8th who is a good 7th, so we're one D-man too much. Trading TVR, who is a good bottom pairing D-man, was what alot of us were talking about once Forsling broke out. We wanted TVR to be moved, basically, so Forsling can play.

Idk, I feel like they could get back a lot better than Yakupov for TVR. I can see that making sense for the Oilers though (TVR as a target), I think that would make a ton of sense.

Hawks are actually extremely deep on D right now with the additions of Campbell/Kempny and the emergence of Forsling makes TVR expendable.

TVR + McNeil/pick for yak with retention.

They could be looking at Yak on the LW too..currently they have Panarin and Panik as their top 2 LWers.

Perhaps a line up looking like this...

Panarin - Anisimov - Kane
Yakupov - Toews - Hossa
Panik - Kruger - Hartman
Desjardins - Rasmussen - Tootoo

Nah, it will probably be Panarin - Anisimov - Yakupov or Panarin - Toews - Yakupov.

Oilers shouldn't try to get Pokka. He will never be in NHL.

TVR/Pokka make sense. The Oilers need a RHD and if they can swap a contract for contract they won't have to sign Gryba.

Yakupov (50% retained) + Lander + mid pick
for
Kruger + Pokka

Thoughts?

Perish the thought! A big fat "NO" on trading Kruger. Yes, he's slightly overpaid, but he's excellent defensively and the #1 guy on PK. The difference on the PK was substantial when Kruger was out for half the season last year.

1) This wouldn't work. Other GMs aren't that stupid.
PHP:
Not even Jim Benning.
2) The Oilers are trying to win this season and Yakupov is a liability in the top 6.

Being stupid implies you have a brain . You might want to reconsider this

Panik is really a RW and he is not a good finisher. So unless a legit top-6 LW is acquired (and Yakupov is not a LW), it will most likely be one of the kids playing top-6 LW - probably Motte although Hinostroza and Fortin have played well enough in training camp to be considered.
