McKenzie: Blackhawks had/have interest in Yakupov

The difference would be 50% on Schultz at the TDL isn't the same as the start of the season, granted he's loaded but Katz has kind of struck me as cheap...maybe it was the whole arena debacle with him trying to defer as much of the cost onto the public as possible or threatening to move the team.

I think it's probably in everyone's best interest that Edmonton and Yakupov depart. Yakupov gets another kick at an NHL career and the Oilers can continue changing their identity.

He's just a business man who knew he could get a new arena out of the city, and used those as tactics to get his way. Since arriving he has had no problem spending money on the actual players or staff. I feel pretty confident he would be fine retaining the 1.25M on Yak.

The Oilers are still pretty weak on RW though
Eberle is a lock.
Puljujarvi hasn't been that impressive and most Oiler fans want to see him start in the AHL
Versteeg is hurt and I havent been that impressed.
Kassian is a 4th liner
Draisaitl experiment?

Caggiula, Slepyshev, Pitlick all ahead.

Chiarelli about to trade another top 2 pick. His favorite past time. That said, can't blame him on this one!

Unfortunately Yak never played like a #1 pick. He's a really good guy, has a good attitude (unless you buy into the Edmonton media's BS), but is not a very smart player and was often a liability on the ice. Put him on a line with Kane/Toews and see if he can stick. Hopefully he can turn his career around.

How are the Hawks doing the Oilers a favour by sending them AHL players in return and having them retain part of Yak's salary?

not to mention it is a good possibility Yak becomes a very good player with a change of scenery. IMO im shocked more teams aren't taking a chance.

If it doesn't work, let Yak walk after the year ends... easy peasy

Here is hoping, it could help kick off some moves.

I'll be disappointed if Bowman gives up anything of significance. I just have a hard time seeing him as a good fit for the Hawks.

I'm torn. On one hand I like yak and hope i figures it out. Chicago could be a great place for that. On the other, I can't stand Chicago

Still would love for mn to trade for him. If edm will balance the cap hit something could probably be worked out

Doubt it, good young d at a small cap hit is untouchable for a cap tight team like chi. Well not untouchable but very unlikely hea moved

I like the guy, but he has pretty much capped out as a #6, he's vulnerable to expansion, and the Hawks have 3 other D nipping at his heels.
