Cuylle knocking new money Owen Power’s block off early and having no reaction when Okposo tried to fight him late. That’s the kinda guy we’ve needed. He gets more noticeable every game
After picking him in nearly every draft sim I did that year I feel like a proud papa of sorts watching him right now haha, we’ve needed a guy like him for what seems like forever

I'd like to ask the same after that 8-1 drubbing.

That third line is gonna get the cycle game going. Mark it down. Cuylle and Wheeler are gonna work those boards the more comfortable they get with each other.
I really like the potential of that line, tro is smart and shifty, wins draws and now he’s flanked by two giants, let them matchup and grind teams down while chipping in offensively

Nice to see the structure implemented by Lavy working. That will win games when the team isn't at its best.
I think Dahlin and Power must have been daydreaming about their bank accounts all night because they both were bad.
If Cuylie continues to improve, he will move himself into a top 6 role.
Lindgren should be wearing the C

Guess I have to take back all the bad things I said about Peter Laviolette. That was f***ing awesome!
I'm happy with a win in October. But Trocheck lead all Rangers forwards in ice time. We're winning a Cup that way? Lafreniere and Kakko still not getting meaningful special teams time.

Detractors will look at TOI and see Laf and Kakko had a lot of PP time. That's because they were on the ice at the end of the game during junk time. During the meaningful times of the game they sat during special teams.

We have been down this road now for how many years. This is not sustainable. You want to win Cups you need to do things correctly. Having Vincent f***ing Trocheck lead your forwards in ice time while your 1 and 2 overall sit is not how you win Cups. Meanwhile in NJ, Hughes scores a PP goal. While having over 4 minutes of TOI on the PP last night. 4 minutes. On the top PP unit. That's how 1 overall picks are given opportunities to lead teams to success. Not by benching them for Vincent f***ing Trocheck. Bedard had 21 minutes TOI and over 4 TOI on the PP the night before. That's how you handle a 1 overall.

We beat Buffalo in October. I'm not going to let that gloss over the same issues that have been going on since the last two coaches and will ultimately cause this team it's failures, as it's done repeatedly.

When we play an actual good team and our 1 and 2 are underdeveloped and Trocheck is leading the way to failure, we know why.

There were some positives to take away from this game. There are negatives, the same exact ones from previous years.

Schneider... I don't know...he was just there again...
I thought he played a quiet but solid game.

The D was moving up with purpose. Schneider being on the right has to stay home a little more but we saw it from him as well.

Key stood out to me. He was like a forward for stretches of the game. He was throwing checks behind the net on the forecheck a few times.

His skating, range and length was very noticeable. I could see Housely being the perfect mentor for him too. Similar skillsets.

Idk if you can attribute one play to a system but for me it’s Panarin on the first goal.

Under Gallant he stops at the blue line and looks for options or shoots it and coasts to the halfwall. Instead, he worked his ass off past two defenders to get his own rebound and pass it cross crease for the tap in.

Hustle play and simple hockey.

It’s not s flamingo but can this work?:

Berard, Hughes, and Lafreniere ;)
Bernard, Slaf, Power, Laf, Hughes all picked up a point in game 1. Dahlin didn't so broke the chain.

Based on Laf not scoring much I assume that's the first time in a while that that many 1OA in a row scored in their team's first game

Great game for us. I was expecting better from the Sabres.....our top 3 lines were all solid and it helped a lot when Lafreniere got us on the board early. Lindgren--unsung hero of the game. All of the younger guys were really good. Dahlen with that Brad Park kind of submarine hit on Filip....but Fil seemed to bounce off of it pretty good.

It was obviously Kravtsov in disguise wearing a Lafreniere jersey
They don't make collars high enough to disguise that neck.
I’m wary of the 10-20 game rookie let down when the grind sets in and the adrenaline of making the NHL wears off

But happy if Cuylle can hang on, looked solid tonight
The AHL is a grind too, and he only got better as the season went on. I think he'll be fine.

Ok, so one fan still woke up miserable. At least give it a rest until after a loss.

Sir, this is a Wendy's.

Shots on goal:

Chytil: 3
Laf: 3
Kakko: 3
Kreider: 3
Panarin: 3
Mika: 1
Trocheck: 4
Wheeler: 2
Cuylle: 1
Goodrow: 1
Bonino: 1
Pitlick: 1

Line 1: 7
Line 2: 9
Line 3: 7
Line 4: 3

Every forward had at least one shot. That's some pretty good balance, and it's good to see all of the kids putting the puck on net.

You sound pretty miserable. No one was "benched". You're choosing situations and words to exaggerate things that actually didn't occur. The gripe about 1 and/or 2 not being on the top unit can be legit, but no one was benched, and PP2 got time to work and it just didn't happen for that unit. PP1 got off at the 1 minute mark. PP2 still can't win board battles to retrieve pucks nor move it fast enough to set up some plays. Chytil does a Trouba at the point and that led to a penalty that ended a PP. You're just flat out wrong claiming they didn't get meaningful PP time.

Not enough love for Cuylle in this thread. Was the best player on what was a very effective line.

Also hit a max of 21 MPH getting up the ice. The "he is slow" meme should be dead.
He always had his feet moving and in great positions quickly, Tapping his stick looking for the puck and being assertive. He moved very well for a big man. Really nice to see and encouraging. His development looks fantastic. Kudus for Ranger coaching & development. They are criticized so often for it, unfortunately rightly too often, want to give them credit when its due.

Team defense didn't disappoint. Buffalo has tons of skill, and they were mostly smothered. Schneider just existing is absolutely fine. He's a 3rd pair young kid and we didn't lose the game. He no longer has to be better than his partner. What a miracle.
