The stars seem to be aligning (themselves on the IR) i know bad pun, its a monday though anyways, not too familiar with Stars Cap situation is it possible that Dallas goes after a Cally or a Filp to strengthen their injury riddled forward depth if it means they could ultimately land Bishop and seal their most pressing issue? Could the lightning take something back? feel like the injuries may be the friendly push dallas needed to pull the trigger on Bishop since they can now take one of aforementioned Forwards off TBL hands

If tampa takes back Niemi then I'd be fine with Flip and Bishop coming to Dallas. Obv wed have to send alot more to make the deal work

I don't think Tampa will trade Bishop, maybe if V catches fire and then they move Bishop at the deadline

Bishop's next contract in Dallas would be made impossible by the Filppula/Callahan contract. Instead of trying to fix this with short term buys, we're going to be selling.

It could be done. Hemsky, Sharp, Hudler and Oduya are all off the books and if they took Niemi back that would also help. I know Benns new contract kicks in. Could also try and move Eakin

Like I said though I don't see it happening, but we could find ways to make it work if a trade happened

What Dallas's cap situation? Bishop+Filppula is close to $11 million or Bishop+Callahan is close to $12 million how can they afford that much and what's their cap situation with players on LTIR.

Benn takes up Hemsky's space, Sharp =~ Callahan/Filppula. Niemi+Oduya+Hudler<Bishop's future deal + replacement defenseman and forward. Moving Eakin would be a given just to afford the RFA raises, so that's 4 functional forwards out and 1 overpaid anchor in. 4 quality depth players replaced by rookies/busted vets is not a good look.

May not be enough to force them to make this trade in particular, but removing cally or flip allows them to protect other, more desired players in the expansion.

Protect players such as...Johnson? Palat? I'll pass. These 2 will want good money, more than Tampa is willing to pay. I'm all for flipping those 2 to so we can free up space

Then use it to protect the players you are flipping them for...? I wont claim to have intimate knowlede of Tampa's situation, but do you think you're gonna be able to just trade them for a young roster player and call it a day? The team acquiring them will need to make room to sign them as well.

I don't think we will trade Bishop...with the Money he wants and in his last year, I don't think teams will move a good younger piece for him. And unless we totally bomb are season...having a good 1-2 in goal will be priceless in playoffs.

For Honka and the rights to Nuke I could go for it.
I forgot about Honka...would be a great addition to our D in the future...but we would def. need to add a good piece to get them to take those contracts...if they had the cap space.

But if they think they're a goalie away from the cup...then they might overpay.

not a dallas fan but that seems steep for getting rid of a high salary and an UFA goalie, doubt youd get both pretty sure DAL is very high on Honka

Yeah pretty positive they're high on Honka

Nills never moved a top 10 prospect in any of his deals yet. He's moved 2nd round picks a couple times, but that's about it. Dallas needs another pmd right now also
