That's a ton of money. Really hoping it blows up in the Dolphins face.

It should be noted- the Dolphins are going all-in right now. They won't have a 1st round pick for two years straight, and had hardly any picks this past draft. Theyre trying to reach Buffalo's level, but Buffalo had way more picks last year and have a 1st this year, so we're better than them now and are setup better for the future.
It's seems so silly considering the QB is still gonna be Tua...

Welp… we get to deal with Chubb in division for a while. Not surprised after they traded for him. They got this done quick though.

I'm not that worried about Chubb. He takes their pass rush from bad to average. He's got a ton of injury issues as well. Judon has been more effective than Chubb in recent years.

Miami, when fully healthy, is a good team. Not elite team, but good. Probably 10-12 wins. The issue is paying Hill/Chubb that kind of cash on the downside of their careers is going to be a problem, especially once Tua/Waddle are off their rookie deals. They have this year and maybe 1 or 2 more years before real problems come in.

They are spending like drunken sailors (in both cash and assets) when, at best, they will get the piss beat out of them by us or Kansas City in the playoffs.

I believe Chubb is only 26, and the contract is likely similar to Von's where they can cut him a few years into the deal if need be with much less of a cap burden. Still, from everything I've read- Chubb is a very good (not elite) pass rusher who has injury concerns. Risky move no matter who you slice it.

I understood the Hill deal. Give Tua every chance to succeed. I don't think they're nearly as good without him this year. He's taken Tua to the next level.

It's just good to have the better team while also having more picks and young, cheap talent coming up.

Tua is showing flashes, though. He's not an average QB in McDaniel's system. I'm thinking he'll settle in that 5-10 range of QBs, which is more than good enough to win with. Luckily, Buffalo has an elite QB and the deeper team, so we should be the better team most years.

I agree MIA lags BUF on paper. But, from a Dolphins perspective, or from a Dolphins fanbase perspective, a strategy where they don't choose to improve "just because of BUF or KC is better" isn't gonna fly. Injuries happen weekly, turnovers happen, Any Given Sunday still applies in playoff games. With how tight the AFC is, and their remaining games (4-5 strong win probability, 1 loss (BUF), 4 toss-ups), MIA has as decent a shot as anyone not named BUF or KC. Key tie-break game coming up vs. Chargers and they've already split the H-to-H tiebreak with BAL and CIN.

I get that they want to improve. The issue for me, at least, is that trading a 1st+ for Chubb AND signing him to a big deal is an all in move.

The dolphins haven't made the playoffs since 2016. They haven't won a playoff game since 2000.

Buffalo's all in move was Von Miller, this is after making the playoffs 3 out of 4 years, winning 3 playoff games in the last two years and losing to the chiefs in a heartbreaking fashion.

Miami isn't there yet. They aren't battle tested. Their contention window isn't open. All they are doing by doing this is ensuring when their window is open (if it opens) that it'll be short.

Same, you hope that they are forced to lose some other guys as a result of this contract. They have a lot of studs throughout their team. They also seem to have a few Bills killers (Ingram, Hill, Howard, Waddle?).

Honestly, they're one of the scarier teams in the league. While their win against us was somewhat flukey, they are legit good and have a very efficient offense this year. It'll be interesting to see if Tua can keep it up against good defenses and in worse weather as the year goes on. So far, he's done more than anyone could've reasonably expected. I don't take them lightly at all, but really really want to give them a good beating. Their fans are amongst the worst in the league.

Hines seems like an exciting add. This all seems like the prelude to cook becoming our primary back next year with Hines spelling him and getting on the field with cook at the same time

There's no way they can afford Singletary's second contract. He'll go somewhere and be a starter and that's probably the correct move for Beane.

I think both him and moss have bright futures in this league. But they just don’t fit this offense. The bills have really telegraphed what they want out of the backfield the past year and it’s not singletary.

If your main attribute isn’t “weapon for Allen”, then you ain’t it.

I'm not sure if it's possible to keep Hines with his cap hit - but those two plus a thumper on a rookie deal would make for a solid committee.

Nothing against Singletary as a player - but there should be no thoughts from anybody here as regards extending him.

Rashod Bateman done for the year with a Lisfranc injury. Ravens WR room is basically being held together by chewing gum and duct tape at this point

Honestly, OBJ to buffalo makes less sense every day.

A) the bills have 190k in salary cap space.

B) OBJ wants a multi-year deal. Why on earth would buffalo give him a multi-year deal?

C) He is going to command more than the vet min. Why would buffalo offer to pay more than that? There are way more desperate teams out there that will pay a reasonable amount for OBJ.

I'd be excited if he came, but it just doesn't compute in my head and I feel like Beane hinted at the financial issues in his presser.
