What's everyone's prediction for the game?

The Jets have- what looks to be- a very good pass defense. It's hard to say for sure how good they are since they've mostly faced mediocre-to-bad offenses. Their defense plays fast and tough, though, so I don't expect the offense to dominate like we've seen in the past.

On offense- there really isn't much to worry about. Wilson can't be trusted to throw more than 25 times a game or else he'll turn the ball over. He has to play game manager at this point in his career- but he's not even good enough to do that very well yet. He's like an in between 2018-2019 Josh Allen that doesn't run nearly as well. They DID have a great running game with Breece Hall, but since he's injured- they've lost the focal point to their offense.

I don't foresee the Jets O putting up enough points to keep up with Buffalo. This is a big game, too, so I believe Buffalo will be hyper focused to win.

As much as I'd love to see Tre play this week I'd be worried about throwing him out there for his first game on the MetLife Stadium turf, which is notoriously bad.

For all, I've been a Bills fan for almost 40 years, and I interned with the organization in their scouting department in the 1990s. I love this team and I love Allen.

But I know how football works. There are 31 defensive coaching staffs who will each get a crack at stopping Allen. One day, someone if going to figure out how to limit his running game. Teams are already figuring out how to limit teams like the Chiefs.

Against KC, you beat Mahomes by making him be perfect. Rush with contain, drop 7, play a cover 4. It doesn't stop Mahomes but it limits their big plays. It also increases the snap count, and increases the chances of an offensive mistake. That's how the Bills beat them in two straight regular season games, and how the Bengals beat them in the AFC Championship game.

This isn't anything new. Belichick has beat far superior offenses in the Super Bowl three times as a coach (Bills in SB 25, Rams twice). Spagnuola and Fewell each figured out how to beat the Pats in the Super Bowl. Williams figured out how to beat Manning and the Colts in the SB. Tampa and Tennessee each came within a hair of beating the Rams in 1999. If I dug into playoffs in their entirety, we'd find plenty of cases, especially since 1990, where a coaching staff used a less talented defense to beat a star-studded offense.

Some DC is going to figure out how to limit Allen. It's going to happen. Then the ball will be in Dorsey's court. He better be able to make the next chess move.

Call me old school, but I know the game. Some team is going to try to do to Allen what teams are doing to Mahomes. It may take a year. But at some point, some DC is going to rush 3, spy Allen, drop into cover 4, and make the Bills run a 10 play drive down the field. The best way to counter that is to just run dives and iso runs right into the heart of the defense, until you force the defense out of it. GB almost did that to Buffalo Sunday night, with a far less talented team.

Because of that, I wish Beane had traded for a depth offensive lineman and a power back.

You make some good points. I agree someone will figure out how to stop Allen. But that doesn’t mean they’ll be able to do it consistently. Defenses still can’t stop Mahomes consistently. That usually only happens when Mahomes is a bit off his game. I’d say the same is true of Josh Allen.

I don’t think our offense is built to execute a good power run game right now. I don’t think we have the linemen to do it. It’s not like Aaron Kromer doesn’t know how to implement the power run (we saw him do it here) and he is the line coach and run game coordinator.

I’d also argue that adding Hines already makes it harder to spy Josh Allen.

Were any power backs traded at the deadline? Or available? I don’t think any o linemen were traded either.

I think people can drop the 'OBJ is terrible for the locker room' narrative. It's clear the team wants him on the squad. Injury history is a legit concern, but Id still be happy to add him.

Totally agree. As someone who used to think he was an issue in the locker room I have since changed my mind after seeing + reading more about him. I think a lot of it was just a media driven narrative without much substance behind it. Were there times he acted immature? I’m sure there probably was. But I don’t think he was ever a bad teammate. And I think he’s matured as he’s aged, like we all do. I know browns players were beyond pissed when he was traded, and I don’t think they ever felt the same way about mayfield after that.

OBJ was a huge reason that LA made it to and won a SB. I think it would be amazing to add a weapon like OBJ for a playoff push. I’d be cool signing him longer than a year too. Gabe Davis is a free agent at the end of the season and may price himself out of Buffalo. I’m not 100% convinced he wants to be here long term either (just a few little things I’ve seen & read over the years). I hope he does (want to be here) and I hope the Bills can sign him beyond this season. But it sure would be nice to have OBJ in case they can’t/don’t. Although at the same time maybe signing OBj makes it less likely Davis stays I don’t know. Either way, I’m good with signing OBJ for a SB push this season. I want a Bills super bowl win before I die. I don’t see how adding OBJ would hurt that goal. I think most would agree that it would likely help.

They cant be dumb enough to rely too much on Wilson, right? Run, run, run. Hope for some lucky turnovers, pray the defense bends but doesnt break, control the clock, and hope like hell Wilson can at least manage the game well enough to keep the score close.

I give the Bills a win 9/10 games, but stranger things have happened- especially in divisional games. Case and point- terrible Miami teams beating the Brady led Pats.

It should be noted- the Dolphins are going all-in right now. They won't have a 1st round pick for two years straight, and had hardly any picks this past draft. Theyre trying to reach Buffalo's level, but Buffalo had way more picks last year and have a 1st this year, so we're better than them now and are setup better for the future.

This is why Beane's approach to the TDL makes so much sense to me.

Beane is trying to make sure that the team around Allen is as good as possible for as long as possible rather than giving up draft picks for a small window of being competitive.

Going all in on the DL in FA this summer and maintaining as much draft capital as possible is the right approach to me.
