Both the Marlowe & Hines moves are absolutely fine value wise - the type of low key moves i expected Beane to make.

I haven't read any comments so apologies if someone said this already - but my only concern in dealing Moss is the complete lack of a power back. There's not enough diversity in the backfield group in that regard. It's a relatively minor problem i guess - but something I'd like to see addressed in the offseason.
Moss wasn't a power back option. I mean, if they tried to use him as one it was a near automatic failure of a snap. The combination of the strenghts + weaknesses of our O-Line with the overall lack of power running ability from Moss means we didn't really lose anything swapping him for a speedy back. Not acquiring an actual power runner is another debate.

I don't disagree. But Moss was as close as anyone... He just wasn't good. Or maybe just wasn't a fit. Hope he does well for Indy.

I have absolutely no issue with moving on from Moss or with acquiring Hines. But it's taken us further away from a diverse backfield with seemingly no thought to address that - other than to run even more with Allen.

The other issue is what "power back" was available?

Hines may have been the best option given what was available for the price that the Bills were willing to pay.

Though I'm a fan of a power run game, I do understand that it's not in the Bills best interest to become a run centric team right now. I do like having counters to what other teams do, though, and that's my point of wanting a power RB.

If I were a defensive coordinator, against the Bills, I'd go with a 3-3 nickel against the Bills. The DEs need to keep contain, the NT takes away the middle running lane. One LB spies Allen. 4 DBs in a Cover 4 to limit big plays. 3 players in underneath zone, and possibly man if Diggs is in the slot. Then I'd make Allen and the Bills run a 10 play, disciplined drive to score. No big plays, and limit Allen running.

It'd be nice if the Bills could have a back like Hunt in that 11 personnel, and just run against the 6 man front until the defense comes out of cover 4. I'm not sold that Singletary of Cook can grind those kinds of runs out.
That's fair, but I do think that Singletary or someone close to his ability, is effective enough to churn out enough yardage to make downs manageable. The issue for me, with Buffalo is that they make it obvious to the defense, based on their personnel and formation that they are running.

I feel a better O-Line personnel would be the fix of our limited weaknesses in the offense and not need to rely on focusing what sort of backs we have.

Hines has arrived:

He must be a happy camper, because I'm pretty sure he spouted off a bit about Indy never having the same QB for more than a year making it difficult to find chemistry with the QB.

Also, I just realized I have Hines in fantasy. Should I start him this week? Who do I sit- Chubb, Kamara, or Jacobs?!

I’m starting to wonder if Hines takes some snaps from McKenzie as a gadget type who lines up in the slot sometimes. Since McKenzie has been meh this season. I guess we will have to see.
At a minimum, he's likely taking touches away from the two rookies: Cook & Shakir (as a punt returner).

I'm wondering if we even straight-up deactivate Shakir on gamedays, especially now that Kumerow is active again.
I think that could definitely be an option. McKenzie could be in that same boat, as well since Hines has also handled KO return duties.

I think cook is going to continue to see his workload increase
I think that will depend on how quickly Hines learns the playbook and how effective he is with the chances he gets.

Giving it some thought, one thing I realized is that Hines role won't necesarily take away from Cook as they've been using him. I'd need to see some fancy stats, but my instinct is that they haven't been using Cook as a shot gun passing down back much at all, likely due to pass blocking concerns. Instead, he's been mostly either lining up wide or taking handoffs out of under center formations. I think they can keep getting him involved in those ways, essentially as change of pace from Singletary, while integrating Hines into the passing game. If anything, Singletary stands to lose part of his workload, since he's been getting the shotgun work.

They'd obviously know better, but I'd like to get him on the field this week so he's full go for Justin Jefferson.

As much as I'd love to see Tre play this week I'd be worried about throwing him out there for his first game on the MetLife Stadium turf, which is notoriously bad.

Can someone (other than me as I'll be "offline" / infrequent starting Friday for about 10 days) please start a new week #9 at NYJ thread and an @moderator port over the 11/1/22 onward post-trade deadline past couple of pages to the new thread?

Thanks in advance!!!
