being thats exactly the types of teams we lose to nearly every year, id say thats a good plan
Not really. We beat St. Louis when they tried to play the bully, then lost to them a couple years later.
We usually lost to Chicago, killing us with Kane and Crawford, not big bruisers.
We beat Colorado when they tried playing the combo of tough guy and skill.
Vegas didn't beat us by trying to play bruiser and neither did Dallas.
The Jets did though.

So really, it was one series loss to the Blues and another to the Jets over the past 10 years.

i disagree on the vegas take. They were pulverizing our skilled players all series

chicago had heavy hitters as well.

Chicago was softer than we were. No way. They were the definition of a finesse team.

Vegas had 1 player who liked to run around... and we had him pretty much negated. That was not a bruising team, they still aren't.

St. Louis and the Jets are big bruising teams. Colorado is a hybrid. Those are the teams we have to play through though, so we'll need to match up with them. (Blues and Avs)

vegas had reaves running around yes but their defense was playing heavy for sure along with some bigger forwards such as tuch and stone. they may not have been goon like but Vegas for sure brought the physicality.

Not to the degree that the Blues and Jets do, and that's what I think of when I think of a big bruising team.

Blues are all heavy so i will agree to that notion however i think vegas is right up there with the jets and not far behind the blues. maybe recently yes with every player injured so its just a bunch of rookies and ahl guys but their full roster in previous years they were throwing weight around quite a bit.

I think it's fair to point out that in two of his three cup years, he was replaced for the finals because of his inconsistent performance. And last year, vs. Montreal was not MAF's most shining moment. All that said, he can also steal a series about as well as anyone. The hope is, that if he hiccups again, Talbot will be good enough to fill those gaps (or perhaps more appropriately, ..... gaffs).
Certainly fair, but one of the cup runs he started more games than Murray and we can also look at what Murray and Fleury have done since leaving Pittsburgh.

Time will tell but I currently feel like he’s had a good trade deadline. Starting to get excited again, atleast.
He managed to kinda go down the middle, making good moves that address areas of need to win now, without giving up assets to rebuild/retool with in the next three years. I genuinely thought that was an impossible ask.

Pretty darn happy, hope he continues to surprise me.

On this forum no. In the real world, maybe.

Still no

It's okay for your team to have a good season without your personnel winning every award out there. Other teams and personnel had good seasons too.

GM of the year to a guy who extends a player for two years (AG) who sits in game one of the playoffs?

Are you really implying that a single contract worth 2m aav is the deciding factor for a GM of the year candidate?

I like how unafraid of making changes Guerin is, this franchise has needed that for a while. A lot of moves have worked out well, some are more questionable. I see two big issues with what he has done so far and that's how he has handled the Fiala situation - though this is subject to change depending how this summer goes - and extending the entire coaching staff including special teams at a point in the season when the PK was 14th and the PP was 22nd.

I agree with you, that in itself isn't a deciding factor but the decision to extend a player who was a healthy scratch at the time for $2M is still mind-numbingly stupid and quite frankly makes zero sense.

Just continues to only make sense if there's at least some possibility that Dumba is gone next season.

Not saying it's for sure going to happen, but it's gotta at least be on the table to give Goligoski that deal.

Is it time to give Guerin some cred for the Sturm/Jost trade?

Sturm has done nothing with the Avs...and Jost, while not exactly lighting up the score board, is playing pretty well and showing flashes of skill that Sturm just doesn't have.
