I disagreeBut they shouldn't be, and this one is a no brainer.

At least we got the great Johansson for him.
No way you get more at the deadline.
And with out C group I would have liked to keep Koivu for face-offs, only. And some PK.
It's not a no brainer when the Wild likely can't make the offer high enough because of their own cap problemBut they shouldn't be, and this one is a no brainer.
By the numbers: Grading every NHL team’s contract efficiency, 2021 edition
Dom used his modeling for contract value by team, Wild fair pretty well even with the dead cap accounted for, most of Guerin’s signings look pretty good in this assessment.
He also questions whether or not his own model is properly accounting for that dead space:By the numbers: Grading every NHL team’s contract efficiency, 2021 edition

While cap space isn’t included in this analysis, dead money is – though perhaps not very well. I figured the Wild would be a lot lower after buying out the remainder of the Zach Parise and Ryan Suter contracts considering that leaves them with… $50 million (!!!) in dead money over the next several seasons. It’s the equivalent of some of the league’s worst contracts with zero chance of providing positive value. It feels like the team should’ve sank a lot lower for that.
Yes, my biggest disagreement on these is that I would flip Brodin and Spurgeon’s contract value projections, but otherwise it seems reasonable. When you consider the potential Goligoski agreement for next year it looks even better too. And considering that Suter and Parise were not a Guerin move, it doesn’t even really matter how the dead cap is weighted from the perspective of evaluating Guerin alone. He also questions whether or not his own model is properly accounting for that dead space:
The model also says that Brodin's contract is the worst on the team, so... yeah. Grain of salt.
IDGAF of what Twitter thinks of Guerin. As stated before, Twitter is a cesspool, along with any and all social media (as a general statement)You know what twitter thinks about Guerin? He not a bad GM, but players don't want to sign here for some reason, only those who don't have a better option. The Wild will have to build top players from the draft. Hmm...what's wrong with Minnesota?
I don't personally pin the buyouts on Guerin too strongly, at least not in terms of the cap implications. I think Parise was 100% the right move and find the Suter one questionable rather than catastrophic. Either way he was going to be stuck cleaning up someone else's mess there.Yes, my biggest disagreement on these is that I would flip Brodin and Spurgeon’s contract value projections, but otherwise it seems reasonable. guerin is upto 2 strikes in my book now , zucker was strike 1 (he enjoyed playing here!) next 1/2 strike for kunin after not signing bonino we swapped a 1st rndr for a 2nd rndr GREAT job billyboy! 1/2 strike for suter buyout. whynot keep or trade? im guessing guerin is making a decent offer to both kaprizov & fiala so i blame the players for being greedy in this case. goes back to wild mgmt should have brought in a player or 2 that kaprizov wanted as a teammate its sure looking like he doesn't give a rip about playing in minnesota!
Gorg on KFAN, " Minnesota needs to sign Kaprizov first, then focus on Fiala."
KFAN , "Fiala is going to arbitration early next week."
Gorg, " ....(awkward silence)..."
This guy has a job as a hockey expert?
Future considerations would have been better…Rather have the 3rd and 5th than Johansson.
Toews and ROR are workhorse centers that are a step down from Bergeron and a step-up from Koivu. Both players peaked offensive in 18/19 (when Blues won), with for centers Toews finishing 15th best and ROR 19th best. Now panned Sean Monahan was 13th that year in scoring.Toews was a 73 point per 82 game player those 3 seasons with 3 top 4 Selke finishes and 2 top 10 Hart seasons. He might not have been the elite 1C that fans/media were making him out to be, but he definitely wasn't a 2C.
O'Reilly was a 77 point Selke and Smythe winner his year. That's also not a 2C.

That doesn't mean they were not great players who played on their team's 1st line and the Wild would be lucking to have. But they have never been offensive juggernauts.
A 70-point center is good enough for the Wild if there are also 2 other quality centers.
did you really just say toews was a workhorse and a step down from bergeron?

I feel like I am constantly correcting this. The deal was Kunin+4th for Bonino+2nd+3rd. The 3rd we received back was used in a separate trade with a 5th round pick to move up in the draft to select Daemon Hunt. So, no, the trade was not just a 1st rounder for a 2nd rounder. We got Khusnutdinov, Hunt and a player that produced close to the same as Kunin for a season in exchange for Kunin, Wilsby and the 5th.guerin is upto 2 strikes in my book now , zucker was strike 1 (he enjoyed playing here!) next 1/2 strike for kunin after not signing bonino we swapped a 1st rndr for a 2nd rndr GREAT job billyboy!
