Senseless things like this that serve no purpose, but to hurt another player.

Just plain stupid.

Maybe this is weird but I find it dumb when players get mad at the opposing team for getting a couple of extra wacks in when a goalie covers the puck.

Going for loose insanely part of the game, you may as well get mad at them trying to score at all.
Getting a few shots in on a player who gets near your goalie is also a part of the game.

As a fan do you really want the players to just stop playing the second the goalie has it? What about all those times we think a goalie does but doesn't? These scrums near the crease (among other areas) are how a game creates intensity and they help with creating animosity amongst the players making for exciting, emotional games. They can be the difference in exciting games or duds.

We’ve all seen those God awful games where the players look like their just going through emotions. And we’ve all see incredible, action packed intense games. I bet you more often then not, those games will have a ton of rough stuff happening after the whistles around the crease. The boring game will not. If they stopped it would only hurt us the fans.

How the league uses raw points instead of points percentage to display their standings even though they use points percentage when determining waiver order(because it is the correct standings). Just order them by points percentage. Your fans are smart enough to understanding winning percentage.

This is so bang on. but the NHL believes it's fans are idiots. this is the Gary Bettman fake parity league. Tfo go even further, the entire concept of a points based standings system is pointless when you have zero possibility of a tie. Pure winning percentage with ROW and head to head records to break ties in the standings is all you need.

This bonus/loser point artificially inflates losing teams point totals to make the league appear closer than it actually is, so Bettman can do his press conferences saying the league is closer than it's ever been, blah, blah, blah.

It's ridiculous and insulting to the fans intelligence.

People who call the 3rd point a loser point.
Most intelligent fans know that when regulation time ends with the score tied each team gets a point. Its been that way for a century.
The 3rd point is for winning in OT or SO.

It's a completely contrived "bonus" point as both teams have split the 2 points that are supposed to be allotted for each game.

what's annoying is that point comes from nowhere and shouldn't exist. each game is worth 2 points, if you win you get 2, back in the the day, if you tie you split, but because when they are tied after regulation now, in a league with no ties, a 3rd point magically appears. It's a ridiculous system that makes no sense other than for Bettman to lie to fans saying how much parity is in the League, and keep fans of bad teams buying tickets longer into the season thinking their team is "still in the playoff hunt"

go to a 3 point system, or do away with points altogether and do a straight win-loss record. any system is better than this.

Playing as a child and watching the game my whole life and I still don't know or understand a lot of the rules.

Need a law degree to understand offside.

It’s been said already but mine is a goal negated due to an offside that happened like 5 minutes before the goal , that had zero impac on the goal being scored.

Inconsistent refereeing . Player on team “A “gets slashed . No call . Played from team B receives a slash almost identical to the prior one . It’s called . Due to either the current score in the game or who has momentum.

Fans who think because they played bantam, midget, beer league hockey they are the Supreme authority and know how things 'really' are and try to gatekeep opinions.
Typically their takes are hot garbage and almost no one agrees.

Unless you are a retired NHLer you know NOTHING more then the average fan, stfu and stay in your lane.

I'd say someone needing to fight the guy that knocks someone on his rear end. I'm talking clean hits that aren't even bad or open ice shots. Just when a guy falls awkwardly someone has to run up and try to drop the gloves and disrupt the flow of the game.

I don’t disagree. It’s however an additional point for winning after regulation time.

The NHL got rid of tie games, so every game must have a winner and a loser. There's nothing wrong with referring to the point given to the loser of an OT/SO game as a loser point.

Offside reviews.

If its close enough for the refs to miss it, it's close enough to count. Either that or limit the time allowed after the alleged offside to challenge the play. If a team doesn't score directly off the rush, can't challenge the offside.

3 point games

Makes it next to impossible to make up ground after Christmas. Eliminates the thrill of late season surges to make the playoffs.

Make every game worth 3 points. 3 points for a regulation or overime win, 2 points for a shootout win and 1 point for the loss. Or eliminate loser points altogether.

Watching Brendan Gallagher play hockey when he isn't injured 5 or 6 times a year.

Anytime he has the puck in the offensive zone he'll just take a slapshot no matter where he is. Whether it be from the blueline, right into a D's shinpads in front of him or from the corner basically on the goal line.. it is a slapshot like every time.

Respect how hard he works, but he is painful to watch.

Every single big hit turning into a scrum even if it was completely clean. 10+ years ago you wouldn't see that, probably in part because big hits were more common and normalized, but now players just don't have the fear of getting clobbered so when it does happen it's a huge deal. By far my biggest pet peeve.
