I'm sorry, this is very OT, and wasn't sure where else to put it.

I'm originally from the Harrisburg area and I've wanted to do something about the City Islanders logo for a while now.. I mean look at this thing..

Aside from it being very poorly executed.. when was the last time you've ever seen a palm tree in Pennsylvania? and that burning soccerball sun? gross.

Anyway here is what I came up with, the style is very similar to the Philadelphia Union and this is on purpose since they are affiliated with each other.

Thoughts?

Do you visit Chris Creamer's web site...I can't link it here since it's in the auto-censor (usually the first image result for logos come from here and they don't allow hotlinking)? Seems like a perfect topic for their concepts board.

I've been toying around with some soccer concepts the past couple weeks as I'm trying to teach myself PhotoShop...and yours makes me realize how far I still have to go
Definite upgrade, though the logo may be a bit too busy. I know the bridge in reference, but I think just having Harrisburg on the top of the roundel and more negative space in the keystone would work better. The truss design works better as part of the kits than the logo IMO.

What exactly confuses you about it? They play on an island in the river thats named "City Island" or as the locals call it "****** Island"

Also for logo's don't use Photoshop ;-) Illustrator is the program you want to learn for that.

Well I've been to Harrisburg, but 'City Island' isn't something I'm familiar with...and the logo having palm trees and a sun never helped. I'm not terribly fond of team names where you have to actually be from there to 'get'.

Illustrator...someday. I'm mostly just working on kits and stealing logos for my own use and slightly altering them (I don't plan on sharing them, its just for my own Football Manager db). For instance I used Footballasfootball's German Steelers logo as a replacement for the Riverhounds (with some very slight modifications)
