So even if I subscribe to ESPN + , if it’s a home game I get blacked out…..even if it’s not playing anywhere else?

I'm watching it right now on ESPN+ using VPN on my laptop. It's the Bally broadcast with Fox and Faust.

I have NordVPN. I'm most likely going to get ESPN+ even though the streams I found last night worked for me.

Yeah, there are some good quality streams out there. You just never know when they'll get the whammy and disappear. So it was nice to get last night's game on ESPN+ working on my devices.

I'd hold off on the ESPN+ subscription until we know for sure that most of the Kings schedule is going to be broadcast on it. I know that's what has been advertised, but I'm always wary.

I tried out Spectrum TV, and wow, it's absolute dog shit. For $65 per month, you can't pause or rewind broadcasts. Get this garbage out of here.

Does anyone use Chromecast for the ESPN+ app? I had problems all last year with nhl.tv and had the same issue yesterday. Watching on the phone works fine but when I cast, it starts from the beginning, gets laggy, can't go back or forward in time, etc. Just very buggy.
It started out the same way yesterday but did get better by about the 3rd period.

Is there a way to do this but have it on the television without having to connect the CPU to the TV? Like, I'd just want to use my Fire Stick. Am I able to connect the Fire Stick to the VPN and I'm off to the races?

Trying to find any info on how ESPN+ works for the NHL games has been a waste of time. Can I join a game midway through and start watching from the beginning? Can you rewind during the game? I'm down to do this VPN action but if I have to watch it live regardless, I'll just keep using the weak ass Bally's App on my Fire Stick while I use my parents DTV credentials.

Again, this is so f***ing ridiculous that so many sports fans around the country can no longer see their local team's regional network.

From what I've read the Fire Stick is the easiest way to do it. I tried doing it last night on a Google Chromecast where I can install Nordvpn but I consistently got an error playing video message. At first it was basically telling me that it was blacked out because it was recognizing where I was previously. But I cleared cache on the ESPN app and then eventually it didn't give me that message but it wouldn't allow me to play the video stream. Any video stream not just the Kings. I'm going to give it another go on the next ESPN+ Kings broadcast.

I tried this with some of the early games last night and could not figure out how to start from the beginning. That's a bit of a red flag if that's how it's going to be all season...

anyone else having issue with the Bally Sports App? Like I need to uninstall and reinstall every couple of days....will function normally and then the next day not work at all.

$25 a month is super super greedy. It is highway robbery

I will pirate before I pay that and I am super anti-pirating
When the pirated steam is more reliable, better quality, easier to find and navigate, and does not arbitrarily black out your area I feel you have a moral obligation to use it. The teams, leagues, networks and cable companies have really given all of us the middle finger. I'd sleep fine if I were you.

So did ESPN+ work for anyone last night? I did not see it available for me. So I just watched it online with NHL66.

I got it to work on a Google Chromecast (this year's model for $50) and NordVPN. See attached photo of my laptop and a monitor connected to a Chromecast streaming the Ducks vs Jets game a few nights ago on ESPN+

Using a laptop/desktop, Google Chromecast and NordVPN
  • Clear your cookies on every browser on your laptop/desktop to remove any location data stored on your computer
  • Select an out of market VPN server and connect to it
  • Log into ESPN.com on your browser
  • Test the ESPN+ game stream to see if you can watch the game on your PC. You may have to try multiple different server locations until one works. Rinse repeat the above steps if needed
If you successfully can watch the stream, move onto your Google Chromecast but do NOT disconnect your computer VPN which is already connected to the out of market server
  • On a Google Chromecast if ESPN is installed already, uninstall it to remove any location data from prior uses.
  • Select an out of market VPN server and connect to it (I’d try the same server city used on your laptop)
  • Install and log into ESPN. It will ask you to activate your device on a computer. Activate it on your active connection on your computer as mentioned above
  • Check the information on the ESPN app and make sure that location services are turned on
  • Test the ESPN+ game stream to see if you can watch the game on your Chromecast
  • If it works, awesome. If it doesn’t, try changing cities. For reference sake, I had success watching the Ducks game as a test using San Francisco
This is what I did and it worked for me. Test it tonight on the Ducks game. You can also do this on your phone. I wouldn't recommend it because your phone has so many location services attached to it and nailing down which one ESPN relies on can be a headache. More disclaimers, I’ll try to answer some questions here, but I’m not tech support so play at your own risk. Don’t blame me if you invest money on this and it never works for you. Good luck!
