While a clear step below, Eichel got traded so I'm sure Matthews can be traded too. Idk why people make it seem like trades are unfathomable, calm down people lol.
US city!!! Tax free state!!! No media scrutiny!!! Team with a solid base now!!!????? Toronto is 100 miles closer to Scottsdale than Miami.
Both are 6.5 hr flights.
LOL, then I answered you before reading this. Sorry.missed the part about wanting to play in the US, and the benefit of FLA not having sales tax
i don't think matthews signed his 5 year deal with the intention to leave the leafs. i think it was more about keeping his options open. he is neither married to idea to retire as a leafs, nor is he dead set to sign with arizona. for the later scenario to happen, the coyotes need to build a promising core, where matthews fits in with his game and salary demand. but they have a lot of building in front of them. i can't imagine matthews going to a team in shambles like the yotes today. Why would Arizona even contemplate a trade for Matthews when there is an outside chance he signs there as a free agent? Isn't that the narrative? He only signed a five year deal and will bolt from Toronto?
Seriously, Matthews isn't going anywhere, at least for the next three years.
On what planet is Matthews a 2 way center?None . You don't trade players like Matthews. If anyone were to move it would be Marner, not Matthews. Rocket winning 2 way centers are like Unicorns.

he wanted to sign an 8 year deal, but the leafs asked him to sign a shorter deal to 'lower' his hit to fit/resign Marner under the cap and he accommodated the Leafs.i don't think matthews signed his 5 year deal with the intention to leave the leafs. i think it was more about keeping his options open. he is neither married to idea to retire as a leafs, nor is he dead set to sign with arizona. for the later scenario to happen, the coyotes need to build a promising core, where matthews fits in with his game and salary demand. but they have a lot of building in front of them. i can't imagine matthews going to a team in shambles like the yotes today.
3rd in the league....lets trade someone
And the thinnest roster in the NHL is now bare.Chychrun, Crouse, Jenik and Keller
If you look back you’ll see it was management that wanted the 5 year route to keep the aav down.i don't think matthews signed his 5 year deal with the intention to leave the leafs. i think it was more about keeping his options open. he is neither married to idea to retire as a leafs, nor is he dead set to sign with arizona. for the later scenario to happen, the coyotes need to build a promising core, where matthews fits in with his game and salary demand. but they have a lot of building in front of them. i can't imagine matthews going to a team in shambles like the yotes today.
In vaccuum, Matthews probably has a bigger
value than any d-man in the league.
ha ha good oneNo Defense alone is worth Mathews the other team would have to add a quality asset.
Earth. The one we live on. It is the third planet from the sun.On what planet is Matthews a 2 way center?
No thanks. How about a player further down the line up?Girard for Matthews.
uh? explainhe wanted to sign an 8 year deal, but the leafs asked him to sign a shorter deal to 'lower' his hit to fit/resign Marner under the cap and he accommodated the Leafs.
The more years on the contract made the AAV go up, so taking fewer years made it so he had a lower AAV.uh? explain
