I have seen three other Ducks mentioned in this thread (Steel, Grant, Getzlaf) but had another option in mind.

Henrique is supposed to be returning soon and was having a nice bounceback year, looking more like his usual self, 20+ goal 40+ points and defensively responsible. I realize the Wild aren't eating that full remaining year on his deal without heavy retention, but was thinking something like:

Rask (1M retained, 3M AAV, UFA) + 2nd

for

Henrique (2.825M retained, 3M AAV, 1 yr)

Salaries cancel out for this year and the Wild have Henrique at 3M next season. Ducks retain heavily to get a decent asset out Henrique and use the remaining savings towards a UFA winger this summer.

I can understand if this isn't any more favorable for the Wild than trading for a rental and then reassessing in the summer. I thought Henrique may be a good fit with how much flexibility he offers to seamlessly move between center and wing - could be helpful when penciling in Rossi next season.
I think the extra years kill it, even with generous retention from Anaheim. If he was an expiring contract I think he'd be worth looking at.

For some reason I had it in mind there was only the one year remaining and not two, but either way yeah I can understand it's a very tight cap situation.

How about Nick Paul?
I have heard that Greenway’s name was out there so what if it was a two for one in Paul (With an extension) + Tierney for Greenway?

Chances of Greenway being traded before the end of the season are very, very low. That line's very important to the team's success and they don't lose much by waiting until the draft if they do end up needing to trade him.

Can't really see any interest in Paul or Tierney, either.

I think Kessel blocked that trade to force a trade with AZ, nothing against the franchise. Different circumstances now.

Yeah and Minnesota now had a million Winger. Minnesota doesn't need him at all! Johan l is nothing more than 3 or 4th like c where we have

No! Minnesota shouldn't be trading for an injured prone player and that contract given out by chuck fletcher
That’s a bit of an overreaction. He’s only coming off core muscle surgery that had at least 3 setbacks with the 1st needing surgery again and the 3rd needing to drain fluid. He is signed for less that 8 years more and he makes less than 8 mill a year. He also has lots of friends.

He's not that good. Again, he's injury prone and had a bad contract due to chuck fletcher, fired for same thing in Minnesota.
We aren't interested in taking on other team's contract

Just promote Rossi in a month or two, and hope the cap goes up in 2-3 years. Anyone MN can get for a 2nd, they don't want.

The smartest low risk deal the Wild can make is for Stastny. He won’t WOW you by any means, but he’s just an overall very effective player who makes those around him better.

He still proves he is clutch in big games as in last year’s playoffs he scored a BIG Overtime winner in the Jets sweep of the Oilers.
