Colts replacing Reich with Saturday seems like a pretty blatant figurehead move. He'll have the locker room's support at least, though.

Will he really?

It's not like the locker-room is full of guys he played with, and a lot of players aren't going to be thrilled of playing for an ESPN analyst instead of a real HC

Mike Singletary was great for a soundbite but 49ers locker-room never liked playing for him despite his "Respect" for his leadership as player

At end of day it's a joke of a hire and the coaches in place will be doing everything while he is there for PR

I agree with all of this, but the result is literally one of the most shocking moments in NFL history.

It's more on Darrell Bevell than Russ though.

I just hope that moment doesn't take away from what Russ accomplished.

I was a big fan of the LOB Seahawks teams. Also I'm a big fan of their unis.
Russ is a future hof

Singletary was also a crazy person.

Colts fired HC Frank Reich

10-6 (1-1 in playoffs) in 2018
7-9 in 2019
11-5 (0-1 in playoffs) in 2020
9-8 in 2021
3-5-1 in 2022

40-33-1

I don't think he will have trouble getting another shot at HC because he did pretty decent job given situation he had to deal with when Luck retired on them and its been an endless stream of stopgap QB's since (Brissett, Wentz, Rivers, Ryan)

Cutty wasn't decades ago

And at actual throwing of ball Fields has long way to go until he is Cutty level

Cutler. LOL.....

The notion that Cutler is in the conversation of franchise QB is just plain nuts. McMahon won a Super Bowl. Jim Miller had a great year. The list of inept Bears QBs that the networks get a kick out of showing was not made irrelevant by Cutler being the Bears QB - he was a decent QB who had good weapons but still couldn't climb the mountain.

Fields may not take us to the promised land either - it takes more than the QB - but there is no debate he is the most gifted athletic QB in my lifetime and I go back to before the 1963 championship team. Bobby Douglas and Vince Evans could run but neither could pass worth a crap. Fields is the only true dual threat QB the Bears have ever had.

I'm pretty sure that Wilson is better in just about every single statistical category that matters...
I'm not sure Wilson is a HOFer. Where are the Standards gonna lay and how many qbs of an era can just walk on it. Will Stafford, Eli, Rivers, Wilson, Ryan, and types in that range really all make it?

That's an excessive amount of QBs and not including the clear cut obvious Ins of the same era. I don't know what the NFLs standard is gonna be but stats piling in this era is making it hard to stand out. Was Wilson ever consistently top of the top, how high do you need to get in, frequently top 3 or top 5, or just long term top 10 qbs.

I wasn't saying he was or wasn't. Just that he was better than McNabb.

The in-house options for immediate replacement are John Fox and Gus Bradley. Neither of those guys would have the team's respect since they are part of why this season has gone off the rails. The highest paid offensive line not showing up for most of the season is the biggest reason, so if nothing else maybe he can start with telling the current center how to play his position and go from there. No big deal if it doesn't work.

Thus far Fields has not shown to be all that great a passer

And he is more in line with John Harbaugh at this point when looking for comp. Of course, he is more athletic and better runner then Harbaugh

Like the aughts? Just that decade? Maybe I'm misremembering but McNabb was probably top 5 after Manning, Brady and Brees. Favre maybe?

McNabb wasn't even the best QB in PA during 00's. Big Ben was better QB

Manning, Brady, Brees, Favre, Warner, Roethlisberger, Rivers and Romo were better QB's with Eli also better then him at end of 00's

Culpepper was better QB as well before injuries destroyed his career

Then guys like Rodgers, Ryan, etc came along and had better careers then McNabb

McNabb was really on level with guys like Mark Brunell and Matt Hasselback instead of elite QB's of 00's and his poor play in big moments further separate him from the elite of era

McNabb is easily one of the most overrated NFL players in history and belongs nowhere near the HOF or HOF discussion

Cutlers career passer rating was 85.3, Fields this year is 85. Theres a really good chance fields ends up with a better passer rating this year than cutler ever had in any single year (92.3)

Big Ben and Eli only played like half that decade and Warner was hurt half that decade.

Let's keep something in mind - this is Fields 2nd year but he played in only 12 games last season and that was in Nagy's system which did him no favors in terms of "normal developmental progression". Then he has a new system this year with a subpar o-line that can't provide him with enough protection to develop being able to pass from the pocket and he has only 1 legit NFL receiver who is a little guy. Despite the deck stacked against him - he has made significant progress at recognizing defenses and hitting available targets.

I'd like to see what he could do with the offensive team Cutler had to play with.

You are so unbelievably transparent. Fields, at the end of this season, will likely eclipse any of Cutler's seasons, in almost every statistical category. Let's see, if at that point, you can acknowledge that the black QB is better than your boy Cutler.

The Saturday thing is hilarious. Clear Irsay wanted someone from in the family to steer the tank the rest of the year, but man do they ever look like the Football White Sox. Dude is less qualified than Robin Ventura when he was hired
