Do you think the trades involving players a the WHJC will be announced today or tomorrow? Also, if Sale is a possibility, when do you think we will hear on that? Maybe he is waiting to see what Barrie does on the trade market?

I heard that they can't announce trades until the conclusion of the tourney for any player involved. I haven't heard Sale is coming yet, other than hints that he will on these boards.

Would make no sense for him to come because then he couldnt play in the AHL until hes 20. And he could definitely play in it before that if hes drafted out of Europe. Would be a bad career decsion for him

I disagree on this. A chance to compete for the J. Ross + potential Memorial Cup? I think that will up his draft status if he performs well.

Nope. It's where you're playing when you're drafted. Unless he's on loan (See Zadina). But that's never really clear who is or isn't on loan.
so if a euro is drafted, the NHL team says go play in the O after his draft year, he can go to the AHL in his 19 yr old season after playing in the OHL for 1 year?

Can promise you scouts dont draft i nthe top of the 1st round based on an OHL championship won or not

Correct. If he comes this year nad gest drafted from OHL, he cnat play AHL until hes 20. Big difference for a guy like him

I wasn't insinuating that, just the exposure playing in the OHL playoffs, plus potential Mem Cup tourney would be better than what he is getting in Europe right now.

However, I completely agree with you re: short term development. With the CHL Transfer agreement, it doesn't make sense for him to come over this season at all. Hopefully the Colts still have a decent team for next season and can bring him over then, if the team drafting him thinks that is worthwhile for his development.

That is what he needs to consider. Will playing for the Colts put him in a better position to play NHL hockey in general? Playing two years more years of OHL hockey may be worth the tradeoff. If it wans’t then the OHL would never get anyone to play from Europe.

Moment of truth. Barrie beats Ottawa.

Grow some balls & trade everything Barrie. This is feeling "Wright".

You guys not watch the jr’s. Have you not realized that he’s a product of advertisement? The kid is a good player but not a game changer.

Trading Akey would be a mistake. He's a legit Defender that helps us win now. Why trade him? Better be a huge upgrade if he is dealt
