Wondering what it would cost in addition to the rights of possible first round pick Eduard Sale to Saginaw for Pavel Mintyukov. I know Saginaw is playing well; however, all indications were that next year is the year for them to go all in.

This trade obviously would only be considered if Clarke is returned. Add in another quality player and a stay at home defenceman and the Colts have the pieces. Whether or not they have the mindset and coaching is another story.

I’d trade Mintyukov for Sale straight up if we knew he’d report for sure. Other wise there would be ALOT of conditional in case he doesn’t report. Multiple 2nds and 3rds. They’d still need a 04 d man but could see someone like Gervais or McNamara getting moved to get that done.

Sale is still ranked 2-5? I’m not sure he/agent would risk getting drafted out of the OHL. He might be in the OHL or NHL next season, but very good chance AHL.

So I guess we are still waiting on word about Sale? If he was joining Barrie would we have heard by now kind of like that Bulldogs player Jan something a few years ago?

I noticed Sale followed the colts instagram page.. other than that with all the talk in the other threads sounds like players are going off the market.. go figure we are going to stand pat again. I guess they are just waiting for that year where majority of player develop out of nowhere over the summer and rest of league seems weak. They'll hang onto their picks (I like to think these as a currency) until then.

It is possible that maybe the Kings haven’t fully decided on Clarke? Or maybe his return is contingent on something and Barrie needs to wait to make sure he is officially back before they push assets in to make some deals?

I’d be patient for now. I Highly doubt Barrie will stand pat if Clarke returns.

Yeah, the colts are 0.600 without Clarke. McDonnell, Jelsma, Frasca, Jodoin, Beaudoin have really picked it up since Haight was moved. The goaltending seems better of late too. Barrie could be dangerous with just subtle moves such as Savard from the Soo imo.

UPDATE: Sounds to me like.. likelihood of Sale coming to Barrie is now over 50%. He's not pleased with the ice he's seen overseas. I bet it happens.

Clarke + Sale is a nice deadline all in its own.

To me, Barrie is the dark horse lurking in the weeds. As a 67s fan, Barrie scares me more than any other team because of what they are capable of doing.

North Bay is the best team on paper right now but they are done. Barrie has the assets and ability to simply slaughter North Bay’s current roster.

Ownership will be the reason you will see Barrie add cheap on deadline day if anything.

He can't afford another 2010-11 year where he saw less ticket sales due to a poor team the year after.

If Clarke and Sale are assigned to Barrie, then that alone is a big add. At that point, Barrie doesn’t need to add much to be at par with the rest of the East, if at all. Trading a player or two and leverage the picks won’t affect next year’s team significantly. It may have longer term effects but not short term. Besides, Barrie has too many 2nds to make proper use of as drafted players anyway. You can only develop so many players annually. Additionally, if you use all the 2nds then you end up in a situation where your deeper picks become absolutely useless because your 2nd rounders get the opportunities.

Perfect example of Barrie being outplayed every game despite their record.

Owen sound possession in offensive zone all period

Wow. These past few days about hearing Clarke will be returned has me fired up. Apparently the chances of Sale reporting are extremely high right now as well, and at that point we all know what Barrie, Marty, and Howie need to do…. Full send. The Colts also simply control the trade market with the 67s following being them.

Wright gets returned to Kingston, Barrie goes out and trades Beaudoin, 4 2nds, and 2 3rds for him. Then they add Del Mastro for defensive depth using 3 2nds, 2 3rds, 2 5ths cause why not Marty says. And then finally the cherry on top would be Savard from the SOO to compliment Barrie’s Top 6 forward group.

At this point this team is just scary to any team in the CHL. The first two lines of this team would be a nightmare for any top team in the CHL to play against. Here’s what it could look like…

Cardwell-Wright (KGN)-Vierling
Savard (SOO)-Sale-McDonnell
Jelsma-Frasca-Jodoin
York-Grisolia-Matthews

Clarke-Del Mastro (MISS)
Akey-Punnet
Cholach-Tiller
Kavnagh

Are we all just ignoring the fact that I called this trade before it happened? 😂 I think Marty is looking at our posts

Anybody that did not see the high probability of Savard to the colts was not looking. I thought Flint would be interested too. The cost was surprisingly low imo.

Anyone here have any inkling if this is precursor to another move with Kingston or just Barrie clearing an OA spot?
