How is Tullio doing? How is his AHL transition? I think he was a 5th round pick right?

It's a bit harder to say because no one on the team is scoring, but he is 2nd on the team for goals by a forward, and seems to be getting more lately.

And yeah, 5th round pick.

I would avoid Sad Boy answers about this player for now because the whole team is struggling to score.

It sounds he is on the right direction. Not right track, but direction, if you know what I mean.

AHL coaches want to coach in the NHL. You get those spots by winning not by developing kids for the parent club. It's a tailor made conflict of interest. This is another reason why having the AHL club closer to home would be helpful. It is a lot easier for the big club to maintain influence if they have eyes on the team regularly.
Yup, people forget that coaches are also being developed down there as well as the players, and winning is about the best way to get noticed. It's a fine balance between building a winning culture and also giving some youngsters the time they need to develop.

Calgary and Vancouver have both repatriated their AHL Team. So that means that the Oilers are now the only Canadian team that does not have their AHL affiliate in Canada and close by. To me there seems to be a huge advantage in having easy access to your minor league team.

of the later round guys have more faith in Tullio than Savoie or Petrov.
Petrov maybe they can improve his skating ...dont hold out much hope for muck Savoie.

It's still early for a lot of these guys, I wouldn't be surprised if the young guys start getting more chances in the new year. I think there is something to be said for watching how better players handle big situations. I don't think it'll be long before Tulio, Savoie, and Bougault start getting most of the big offensive minutes.

Seriously wtf? Are all of the prospects complete busts (Kesselring and Bourgault at minimum have promise) or do the guys that call the shots not know their asses from their elbows?

Considering the Oilers success rate at both hiring competent people and drafting and developing players. Almost assuredly both.

Something is foul on the farm, and I don't think it's the young players.

Almost every single player is having a bad year.

Brad Malone had what, 40 points in 52 games last year, and now he has 4 points in 11.

McKegg is a solid AHL contributor in the past. 58 points in his last 81 games. This year he has 1 goal and 6 points.

Justin Bailey has been flirting with a PPG in the AHL the last couple of years. This year he has 5 points in 12 games.

When I see every single vet on the team struggling outside of Griffith, there's something going on bigger than individual players.

I don't think our drafting is bad. I think the AHL development team, coaching and management, needs to be wiped clean probably.

Letting Schaller, Marody and Cracknell go without properly replacing their production wasn't a great idea either.

Absolutely embarrassing what is happening in Bakersfield right now.

This whole franchise top to bottom just can’t stop stepping on their own feet.
Things were going swell until Woodcroft got promoted. I'd be curious to see the roster Woodcroft inherited in Bakersfield vs Chaulk, and compare their records up until this point.

The oilers have almost always played vets over kids on the farm, this is nothing new. It is still very very very stupid but hey, oilers organization.
