Condors regressing back down to the old Oklahoma team where AHL vets get key ice time and the kids rot on the bench and in the press box.

Colin Chaulk riding a 6 game losing streak and player development seems to have stagnated.

Oilers gonna oil.

I mean you have a recent 1st round pick in Bourgault, a guy that has scored in 3 games in a row prior to this game in Tullio, and a former Hobey Baker candidate sitting on the bench in Savoie while Esposito and McKegg are out there? I love Esposito's grit and toughness, but he's a lesser player than Brad Malone. McKegg has been pretty poor from preseason and into the regular season. Seems to me like the coach is trying to save his job down there vs. developing the youth.

Yikes, no wonder our guys like Bourgault/Lavoie/Savoie/Tullio etc aren't producing.

So we’re just giving all the prime minutes and development opportunity to career AHLers instead of our young forward prospects?

Asinine.

Classic Oilers.

Fire Chaulk and Woody at the same time. Holland as well. Make it a firing hattie.

In fairness, I think the elevator shaft drop aligns closely to losing #1 goaltender, Calvin Pickard. We saw firsthand how the Oilers cratered last year when they lost Smith for an extended time. Upside here is Bako's two prospect goalies are getting games and mucho development work.

Do agree with your point in critical situations like end of game down by one and trying to tie that there should be a healthy mix of prospects on-ice to experience this type of development moment.

The deployment of the ice time has been a major piss off

On a positive note, Kesselring is really turning the corner

His 8G is tied for first in D scoring. He also sits 3rd in the league for SOG. 1st among D
I wonder how far away he is from possibly taking Barrie's job as the 3RD?

You nailed it. Its supposed to be a "development" league.

This is the thing that happens. AHL coaches want to win regardless if it’s a developmental league and a lot of AHL coaches think the best way to do that is with vets.

Holland is the one that needs to go.
If I was GM and I saw what was going on down there, I'd be disgusted and have a word with the coaching staff down there.

It's a "development" league, it's the coaches job down there to "develop" their prospects not ride the vets. You don't want to tell the coaches how to coach but in the same token, you need to let them know how imperative it is to develop the prospects. Playing Savoie on the 4th line (just like what they're doing with Holloway up here) isn't going to accomplish anything. Not having your top young offensive prospects out there down a goal late isn't going to accomplish anything in terms of development. f***ing develop already.

This is really concerning. You have to have balance of course since winning matters even in the AHL but it really is a development league first and foremost.

Condors are doing the exact opposite of what Portugal did against the Swiss which is why they are 1-6 in the last 7 games instead of 6-1 like Portugal

they are 1-6 because they are missing Malone, Benson, Kalidis, Descharnais, Hamblin

Might be time to leave Malone in Bakersfield. He's a very good leader and role model down there.

I know Woody trusts him and all, but this is one where the GM should step in and send him back to the AHL. Not getting a lot of action here anyway.

The impact he can have down there is far greater than what he's doing up here.

Stauffer ripped the Condors today for the lack of playing time and ECHL call ups playing ahead of our draft picks.

Time to let K.Gretzky out with the trash along with Chaulk down there for not playing the kids.

There are too many backwards steps the Oilers organization are making this year.

K. Gretzky needs to reign in Chaulk. The Condors are his baby.

Sounds to me like he’s the one leading the “play the vets” charge.

I don't see it. He (KGretz) has been overseeing them for the several years where they've had zero issue playing kids. The new direction ties in directly with Chaulk taking over for Woody.

Plus Keith would have been one of the key figures in keeping Woody onboard after 17/18 and hired as Bakersfield's HC. So it's not like he inherited him and now has had his change to hire his choice. Woody and his focus on teaching and development was the direction Keith wanted to go in.

He’s the boss. It shouldn’t be happening under his watch so he’s either going along with it or isn’t reeling in his coach.
