Lander with 2 G and 1 A in last nights ot lost 5-4! Wonder how long he waits before he bolts to khl? Or perhaps we can fetch a 3th rounder for him for his fo+pk skills and scoring doesnt hurts.

Doubt he'll go, unless EDM tells him it's over.

Lander has always been loyal to his team. Never left, unless released.

It would be a big surprise if he bolted. That said he us witouth a contract come end of 16/17 so of course he will go somewhere if not signed in edm.

I think he'd be given a shot in Detroit's system if Edmonton gives up on him, Todd Nelson would vouch for him for sure.

Hell give it one more shot. He sees Hendricks getting older and probably on his way out. Letestu is 31 as well. Hell be in a fight with Slepyshev/Pitlick/Khaira next year for those depth spots and thats his best shot to get in. If those guys outright steal his spot hell head over

TBH Im suprised he hasnt gone yet. Dude rips up the AHL and Id wager hed be one of best players in KHL

You're right, and he is not that old really, but I still bet he won't go until it's over. He's always been immensely loyal. That is who he is. This is his last season in edm, I doubt he'll be here next season, but he still goes up/down without word and rips it up whenever he goes down..

He is an example for how a player should behave imo, and that is why he has been C on lesser teams. It is really too bad he cannot really keep up in the nhl.

Lander is a teamplayer but the guy can see that his options to grab a spot in the oilers gets smaller and smaller , hell they even recall beck before him.

Go to khl, ripp it off there, play big minutes and make some big bucks for the future.
Big minutes , play in team sweden will boost him and perhaps he come back to the Nhl in a couple of years, have happened before.

Lander is a high character guy, no doubt. He's very mature in the sense that he quietly goes about his business. Not sure I've ever heard him have a woe is me attitude through his career, he definitely didn't during his few seasons in OKC that I remember at least.

The Beck recall should not be seen as a slight against Lander in any way. Beck was leading the entire league in scoring and had been dominant, they made the right decision with the Beck recall. Lander will be back up at some point, but you had to reward Beck.

With RNH and Draisaitl seeing more and more time on the wing, I think there's a decent chance you see Lander get one more crack in the new year. Especially as Caggiula hasn't really ran away with a roster spot.

Maroon-McDavid-Draisaitl
Lucic-RNH-Eberle
Hendricks-Letestu-Kassian
Pouliot-Lander-Pakarinen

Would also likely have the team with over 50% on draws vs. where they are now.

How is Khaira doing? Is he healthy yet? If yes how is he compared to Lander?

Lander, Khaira (JJ) and Slepoy are our best forwards. No one else compares and no one else has ANY chance of making the NHL.

Pretty much. It's a fairly lackluster group there currently, but that's due to having Caggiula and Puljujarvi up with the big team all season. Though I wouldn't be surprised to see them sent down in the new year, same with Benning on the backend.

Hamilton-Khaira-Beck
Slepyshev-Caggiula-Pulju

A bit more of a proper AHL top 6 and much better than what the Condors are rocking now...

Add an uninspiring LB in his most recent set of games and that makes us even worse.

the good news I think is that with the exception of Betker, who really dies suck, most of the ELC contracts should be gone and so will the players.

Khaira hasn't looked as good this year, but could still be an NHLer. Slepyshev hasn't been down long. Lander is a star at the AHL level. Overall, the team is a mess and I don't see them in a playoff spot withough major changes. Not a lot of true prospects on the roster.

He's 4th on the team in scoring and doing it at a better pace than last year. He's also one of the youngest players on the team. What's not to like?

Nothing not to like, just he hasn't been as dominant this year (he started off VERY strong, got injured early and hasn't been quite the same since until recently). 4th on the team in scoring isn't as impressive as it sounds since almost nobody on the team is capable of scoring outside of Beck, Lander, Hamilton, Khaira. I think Khaira is a 4th line NHLer with upside of 3rd line if all goes well. I'm not knocking him, I like the style that he plays. He just hasn't looked as good this year as last (but then, the team is weaker too since we purged a bunch of vets like Ford and Hunt).

A 4th line NHL'er with third line upside is exactly what the Oilers need Khaira to be. He needs to play smart defensively and be physically engaged. Any offense that comes with that package is a bonus.

That's about what you get with him. He's big and can be physical. Don't know if the scoring will translate to the NHL. He's not that fast, which may hold him back a bit.

He's a quality 4th line center--excellent on faceoffs and PK, can chip in some offense. It's probably just a numbers game with him this year. It's hard for him to crack the line-up where the versatile and more offensively gifted Letestu is a 4th line center. And Lander, unfortunately, is not big or physical enough to be a 4th line banger. If he was Khaira's size, he'd be playing ahead of Hendricks.

I obviously haven't watched him this year, but I felt his skating looked quite good for a big man in his NHL stint last year. He was also winning board battles at a ridiculous rate last year when he first came up, although his play tailed off a bit before he was sent down.

I like that he loves to hit, and doesn't think twice when dropping the gloves. Plays on pure instinct with his physical and fighting game. I don't think he has the greatest shot, but I think he does have quality playmaking ability and decent vision, and a willingness to crash the net. To me that is enough for him to translate enough offence to the NHL level. If all he ever becomes is a big tough physical 4th liner who can hem teams in on the cycle, throw some heavy hits on the forecheck, provide solid defensive play and versatility as a centre/winger while chipping in 5-10 goals and 20 points then I will still be very happy. If he can develop further into a 3rd/4th line tweener that can give you 15-15 while providing all the other things I mentioned then I will be ecstatic.

I really do hope we keep Lander around. Even if his offensive game never translates to the NHL I still think he's a quality depth forward who could take over for Letestu as the shutdown PK/Faceoff specialist 4C. Surround him with 2 big wingers and he might just chip in some offence from his line creating chaos and grinding down teams/getting lucky bounces.

Lander really should spend an off-season working heavily on his shot and his skating. I know he's capable of sniping because I've seen it before, but his shot is also very inconsistent. If he was a step quicker he wouldn't be in the AHL right now.
