Damn. I really wanted Gallo. I thought he would've brought the left handed thump and strong defence this team could use. However, it is promising that the front office was after a player of his calibre that they didn't really need. I hope it signals that they will continue to shop at the top of the market for controllable talent.

Not sure if legit, but OK, f*** it. This is the one you might have to do.

Am I wrong to want to pay up more for him than Berrios? I think Lopez has 3 more arb years after this one and is 25 years old. I am not sure I want to pay for Berrios with 1 year left and then be forced to pay him whatever he wants to extend him given the prospect capital it will take.

Berrios has also said he's testing free agency no matter what if I remember correctly

Also want to say that the Yankees acquire Gallo when I was in the shower. The power i have just doesn’t benefit the Jays.

I deserve this one;

For all you complainers who thought the Jays were being cheap and were lying when they said it was a temporary issue they would address in the future.

We have this reputation of being runner ups

Based on fangraphs rankings that's a 50, 40, 40, and 35+ FV.

So from the Jays 1 of SWR/Kirk/Groshans/Kirk/Moreno, 2 of Kloff/Smith/Machado/Pardinho/Murray/Jimenez/Adams/Rees/Brown/Lopez/Palmer/Robertson, and then a guy past that

SWR + Smith + Adams + Robberse as an example

Honestly that isn’t that big of a haul. It’s ok/good unless there is more.

This is an aggressive front office that tries to leave every possible option open. Due to this, there will be plenty of reports that have the Blue Jays as a runner up for players. However, the front office has also landed some of the leagues bigger free agents the past few seasons in Ryu, Springer, and Semien. There is nothing wrong with not going beyond a price you are comfortable with to acquire a player - whether it is in terms of years, salary, or prospect capital and then pivoting elsewhere to another quality option. This team is not in a position where they are one piece away like the Cubs with Chapman (just one example) where they could stomach losing Torres because that trade put them over the top.

I'm no prospect expert, but none of those names really tickle my pickle.

(Edit) A couple of guys are having good years it seems. Duran in particular. Oh, I remember Josh Smith actually. I did like him in his draft year, but it's just such a common name I didn't realize it was the same guy lol.

Those guys are all having huge seasons statistically. I'm not sure on the actual prospect status/grades, but Hauver was a 3rd round pick in 2020, and Smith was a 2nd round pick in 2019. Glenn Otto is 25 but he has 115 strikeouts vs. 17 walks in 75.2 innings this season.
