It would be Gallo, Kennedy and Gibson. Would cost us Gurriel plus a couple B level prospects.

It would cost more than that.

Gallo is 15th amongst all hitters in WAR (higher than BO), has the highest walk rate of anyone in the league, is tied for 7th in HR and is a pretty good defender.

Debatable if it would be worth it because it's not the pitching we need but Gallo would make make us a downright scary offensive team and also improve our defense in the OF.

If this were the case I would take it and run, and I would be running very fast.

Even if they offered me Gurriel for Gallo, I would take it.

Great trade for Seattle imo. I’m not so sure Graveman has a better end to the season than Smith. But Smith and Montero cancel each other out in terms of 2021 production. Toro’s bat hasn’t come around but a former top prospect with a lefty bat who can play multiple positions with control is a big win. A Canadian too.

5 big trades that won't happen (but should)
Toronto preps for stretch run
Blue Jays get: 3B José Ramírez, RHP Emmanuel Clase, RHP Bryan Shaw

Cleveland gets: OF Lourdes Gurriel Jr., SS/OF Austin Martin
(MLB's No. 16 prospect) RHP Eric Pardinho (Blue Jays’ No. 13 prospect)

Why it should happen: The Blue Jays are part of an AL East that currently features four contending teams, all above .500 and with positive run differentials. The Blue Jays’ offense is one of the two most dynamic of the group, along with the Red Sox, but the team has needed pitching help -- both starting pitching and relief. An earlier version of this deal included Shane Bieber, but with his recent transfer to the 60-day IL, a new plan was hatched: Clase, a hard-throwing reliever to fortify the bullpen, and Ramírez, to add to the team’s considerable offensive prowess.

To be clear, the Blue Jays don’t need another bat. But with no ace starters clearly available, adding Ramírez helps make this a borderline unstoppable lineup. Instead of run prevention, what if they just scored a ton of runs, beefed up that bullpen and went for it? Ramírez has team options for 2022 and '23, so this isn’t a rental, and Clase isn’t even arbitration eligible until 2024. That’s important, given that the Blue Jays’ offense is super young, and presumably here to stay.

Why it won’t: While Gurriel seems primed for a breakout in many ways, and the prospects have high ceilings, it seems unlikely that Cleveland would unload Ramírez, given the two aforementioned club options. He and Clase both could still be on the team when it's competitive again, especially if Cleveland's starters can avoid the injuries that have plagued them in 2021.

It’s ok Ross. I’ll sign off on this one.

Also the Pirates-Brewers deal feels very light. 1 top 75 prospect, the teams top 10 and top 15 for Reynolds and Rodriguez?

That’s like us trading Groshans, Lopez and Pardinho for Reynolds and Rodriguez which I would gladly do.

Even the Rockies deal is a steal. Liberatore and Baker for German Marquez and Trevor Story? Rockies are dumb but not that dumb. That’s like us trading Groshans and Lopez for Marquez and Story. Or Pearson and Adams for Marquez and Story if they wanted a stud pitcher. I say yes to both.

After Franco graduates, the Pirates will have the best farm in the league especially after the deadline.

Also we know why Rocker drop.

Rocker, don’t sign and go back to Vandy so we can grab you next year.

That's a very easy yes to that trade, and I'm probably more hesitant than most over trading top prospects but that's not even close

Ramirez >> Martin
Clase >= Gurriel
Shaw = Pardinho

I like what they've done especially this year with Davis and Solometo, but wasn't a big fan of Gonzales pick last year and he's struggling in A+ with 54k in 38 games and a .250 BA. Change that to either Zac Veen or Robert Hassell and wow.

Kyle Glaser MLB Prospects Chat (7/27/21)

Ken (Brick NJ)

What happened to Simeon Woods Richardson in the top 100, Has he fallen that far.

Kyle Glaser: Our previous reports had Woods Richardson's fastball at 91-95, but when I saw him this year (my first in-person look at him) he was 90-92 and topped out at 93. The delivery is a little stiff and he doesn't have a lot of deception. Hitters see his fastball and track his secondaries pretty well, even though the movement on them is good in a vacuum. He's still young and has time to make some adjustments. His physicality and the raw qualities of his curveball still have bullish evaluators seeing him as a potential back of the rotation starter, but you can find others who think he's going to be more of a multi-inning reliever.

On the other hand, this has to be like the 5% odds, Shane Bieber type hope for Hoglund. Mid first-round college righty with solid stuff and elite command. Enters the majors with their throwing programs, and elite everything and suddenly becomes a front end starter. It's not high odds, but imagine. We'll have to see on Kirby, but he's the last guy I would have pegged for front line starter upside.

Erik (Chicago):

George Kirby quietly moving up 65 spots and is now the 3rd ranked pitching prospect. Has his stuff improved at all or is control and consistency what bumped him up so far?

Kyle Glaser: Stuff has improved to elite. Control is still elite. Everything has been A++. He's getting consensus front of the rotation projections, which almost never happens. We'll have the full report and details in the Mariners Midseason Top 30 coming out this week.

Quite the season for Smith continues.

I'm not opposed to moving him (if other teams value him highly enough, obviously). I would also love to see them DFA Valera and add Smith in that spot. At least there's a chance you catch lightning and get a solid 3B... Valera is just a bench guy with no upside.

As long as he is not moved for Esteban Loiaza

Kevin Smith ranks in the AAA East league

18 HR (#2 ranked)
.980 OPS (#3 ranked)
wRC 56 (#1 ranked)
