Calm down.
1 Stanley Cup and two Olympic Gold Medals is a better résumé than ''being a coach in the minors'' for some years.
The last time he got out of the 2nd round was when the Pens won the cup back in 2009. He had some of the most talented rosters in the league and disappointed on a regular basis.Well i'll say this. Normally the Jackets are an irrelevant franchise nobody ever talks about and well this has succeeded in making people talk about the Columbus Blue Jackets . Not in a good way but hey its something ...
Whats Babcocks recent resume though ? He was good in the 2000's but since then his teams did nothing. Not even winning a round in 10 years. Bringing him back out of coaching purgary was just a bad call.
*chews on a sprig of wheat*Calm down.

Yeah, really hard to win gold medals with team Canada. The fact that they barely got past mediocre USA rosters is more of an indictment of his coaching.1 Stanley Cup and two Olympic Gold Medals is a better résumé than ''being a coach in the minors'' for some years.
A source told the Dispatch that one of the biggest things that changed the team's thinking was a player telling the NHLPA that Babcock held his phone "for an uncomfortable length of time," during a meeting in Columbus held somewhere other than Nationwide Arena. The player said Babcock looked through photos for "several minutes" and there was concern the coach would search his text messages.
Attempts to reach Babcock were unsuccessful.
A similar report on Sportsnet, citing "multiple" sources, nearly mirrors what the Dispatch was told. It said the alleged incident was "beyond the scope of what was initially understood to have occurred," which changed the team's stance.
We will never know if it was a good hire or not since he wasn't allowed to coach.Everything is quite a bit in the past now. Recently he was more mired in controversity . Might as well bring Mike Keenan out of retirement if you bring up Babcocks archivements This was not a good hire .
Name where it is claimed that he has forced anyone? And, yeah, who knows what kind of pictures some players have, it might be pictures of a certain gang rape that occurred on the night of a Hockey Canada gala June 18, 2018?No one has the right to force you to give them access to your personal life. Who knows what kind of pictures some players may have on their phone. It’s a reasonable expectation it’s private, hence why most people have passwords.
If you want to get to know me, sure. But I only have a couple of pictures of sunsets and wildlife so it's pretty boring. Now open up your phone and let us all fish around in there.
Ask Marc Crawford and Pat Quinn if it's hard.Yeah, really hard to win gold medals with team Canada.

I bet they hire Gallant who proceeds to put their promising young players on the 4th line in a shit system he’s runningMods should just shut this thread down now. 80% of the posts are just dipshits bickering at each other just like most of the posts on this site.
This isn't a site where people can talk hockey any longer.
That being said, this is similar to what the Canucks went through after Benning got fired. What does Columbus do now that their GM is on the hot-seat and they need a coach? If they hire a coach it might be the Boudreau situation all over again. Best they assign an interim coach while they figure out the GM situation.
You clearly don’t understand the power dynamics in the coach and player relationship, especially with younger players if you don’t understand that him requesting it at all is offside. It’s akin to men slapping secretaries on the butt back in the day and then blaming the women for dressing nice. Tone deaf would be an adequate description at the very least. Babcock is supposed to be this top notch coach, who knows how to inspire players to reach the peak of performance, but can’t even make it through the summer without causing an issue. I mean the game has passed him bye as coaching at this level is more than understanding the hard skills and it’s clearer he lacks the soft ones. Now back to the photos, just because someone doesn’t want to share, doesn’t make them a rapist, what kind of people do you hang out with, that you think people are hiding that type of photos on a cel phone. More likely a young lady sent photos that are ment to be private, or who knows, maybe a player is gay and not ready to come out and had photos of him and his partner enjoying a moment. But, non of that matter, because it ain’t non of our business what phots they have, and it sure ain’t there bosses F*@king business what photos they have. That doesn’t make them soft for not wanting to share and it’s to bad they didn’t go tell him to go $&”k himself, oh wait they did.We will never know if it was a good hire or not since he wasn't allowed to coach.

Hair was too perfect. MFer had to be taken down a notch.what did he do
I don't know if ''pissed off'' is the right word. It's not exactly a synonym to ''being uncomfortable''. As I've already written in this thread, I want more information before I can pass judgement on Babcock for this incident. I already despised him for what he did to Mike Modano.Babcock seems to have pissed parts of the Blue Jackets roster with his wierd behavior enough without actually coaching the team that all parties involved felt he just couldn't be kept around to actually coach . Like its a bit of a suprise it happened this fast but not that it happened. It's what Babcock does .

Both were hired by the same person in charge?Columbus brought in Tortorella after the nightmare year in Vancouver and it “worked out”.
They then decided they could do it again with Babcock years after the Toronto debacle. That’s my thinking at least.
It really was a totally unnecessary risk.
Trust on a personal level and trust on a professional level are two different things. It is famously said that all the players on Montreal Canadiens hated Scotty Bowman 364 days a year, and on the 365th they got their championship rings. And Scotty Bowman is regarded as the best NHL coach of all time. This wouldn't have happened if the Jackets brass and probably even Babcock himself felt like he could go on like nothing happened and just coach the team. We probably won't hear what exactly happened there for a while if ever but it doesn't seem like it was repairable with some players. Can't coach a team with any kind of success if part of your roster doesn't trust you

Can we at least see the pics everyone got so worked up over? Let the people be the judge?
Look, if these kids truly have something to hide, that's a point of concern, no?Good one Babcock
No. That’s not how this works.Look, if these kids truly have something to hide, that's a point of concern, no?
