So why does the NHLPA list it on their website if it's not enforced?
Because that is what they strive for and part of the mission of the PA. If it is not agreed to by the owners in black and white though, it has no real enforcement mechanism. Surely that's why it was up to the club and further why he negotiated a resignation and wasn't fired for cause or violation of the CBA.

Firing him is not beneficial to anyone though.

It proves CBJ made a huge mistake. It proves Boone Jenner was not aware of what was happening in his lockerroom. It proves their PR department did not do it's due diligence.

By all accounts, he was basically fired.

Remember, Quennville also 'resigned' - but he has to meet with Bettman before he's allowed to re-enter the NHL - how does that make sense?

You're basing too much of your argument on the NHL allowing players to willingly resign (Quennville, Babcock) when found guilty.

I assure you Mike Babcock would still be the coach of CBJ today if he was allowed to.

How many more people are going to DM me about my willingness to see how this played out and not immediately assume Babcock had done shitty things, or go back and ironically react to my posts.

@Adrianopolous Thanks for the DM, you f***ing hero.

As an outsider to this whole thing, him resigning is interesting in terms of what he could of done/was it over the limit.

What a meh way for the Jackets season to start, before preseason.

Also, curious if the vets who stuck up for Babs really meant it or was it to quell any fire?
And does this cause any locker-room rifts.

Yes and no. He negotiated his resignation, so clearly it was not a violation of his contract and not a "firing" as such. They had to pay him to resign.

If it was Jarmos idea he should resign . But this was such a strange hire it reminds me of when the Stars brought back Hitchcock in 2017 because the owner really wanted it. Maybe it wasn't just the GM's idea but someone above him who wanted a big name.

This is where I'm at wwith this. But if it was Jarmos idea then can him. If it wasn't then can those who drove the idea

Right,

Just like Quenneville "resigned" after a meeting with Bettman. They must have had no basis to terminate him either.

They probably left sexual assault off of the CBA too. :sarcasm:

Balls in a vice? You either have the talent to play in the nhl or you don't. Telling your coach to get f**ked isn't going to change that.

This whole situation could have been handled much more appropriately if one of the leaders on the team actually had the balls to tell babs to fu** off and focus on coaching rather than worrying about my phone.
Odds are he didn’t do the same crap to the Gaudreaus and Jenners that he does to the kids, role players and over the hill stars. It’s part of his deal, play mind games and bully everyone that isn’t a tenured in their prime star who would tell him to fly a kite.

Well, this was somewhat unexpected. And of course mike commodore fanboys are gloating. Babcock is a old school jackass, but the sensitivity in today's kids is laughable.

Anyways, I couldn't care less if Mike Babcock is employed or not. Continue ripping him apart hf...
Sensitivity is one way of putting "this guy is ill equipped to be an assistant manager at an Arby's." What, all I did is take the cashier's car to buy a dime bag. Toughen up.

I don't buy that. He didn't cherrypick the weaker players so that he could get away with it. lol do you actually believe that?

Are you comparing invasion of privacy to a drug run? Lol

This world is going to shit

One of these…..shit…..TWO of these things are not like the other.

Complaining about equal rights isn’t a good look. EVER. Like, WTF?

That said, while some of the evolutions in society evolve into things for which I may not be a fan, coaches power tripping enough to exacerbate anxiety (Johan Franzen) shouldn’t be accepted in the first place.
