I’ve worked for someone like Babcock. You’re paid extremely well so they use that against you (and others) knowing you need them more than they need you. I don’t think Babcock and Tortorella are even comparable. Tortorella just wants to win and is strict. Babcock is a total dick because he can be and is manipulative. That’s such a toxic trait. Listen to the players who are critical of babcock. They are not scrubs who are mad they were cut in training camp.

To be honest the other quotes on the situation make it sound like the players didn't like interacting with Babcock more than the phone issue. There likely was no just cause to terminate Babcock from a legal perspective, so they asked him to resign because he'd already lost the room before pre-season even began. They probably paid him a bit and he's leaving on his own free will instead of starting the season hostile with some of the room.

I never liked him anyway, but now that he's fired, I completely expect the NHL to have his villain from Scooby doo mug on a broadcast team somewhere because they always f*** it up when they get a chance. I want no part of that. Babcock sounds like the knight guarding the Holy grail in Indiana Jones. He should be narrating tales about the dust bowl, the great depression, and trench war in France.

You can interpret Seravelli's tweet in multiple ways. Until the NHLPA has made an official statement about why, nobody knows what has happened and what the investigation turned or not turned up.
