If he really wanted to be a hero, that goof would just go away entirely.BizNasty not the hero the NHL deserves, but the hero it needs
Torts and Babcock are completely different.
Frank Corrado talks about it on Leafs Radio, if you're interested - you can listen here:
He mentions Torts is straight to the point, which guys like. He can be direct - but you know where he stands.
Babcock plays mind games and never tells the player how he feels or where he stands.
They're almost opposites, the only similarity is that they're both tough coaches. Obviously, CBJ should have known that when they hired him.
What a bizarre story and surely the end of the line for Babcock.
Didn’t this GM also hire Torts? Maybe this GM isn’t thinking straight.
If he asked to look in their phones that’s all I need to know. It’s an imbalance of power and the young kids especially will feel pressured to do it, when he has no right to even ask.Honestly bet this is all overblown.

Friedman:
But Spittin Chiclets is full of liars and Babcock did nothing wrong! This is a nothing story and Boone Jenner and the PR department confirmed it!
Don’t be so quick to discredit people just because the PR department rushes in with a statement.
Happened with Hockey Canada, happened with the Kyle Beach investigation, and now with Babcock.
Honestly bet this is all overblown.
That's quite literally their job as captains of the team.I wouldnt go as far as to talk shit about Jenner or Gaudreau, there is a chance they did not know what he did with the younger players. And even if they did, do you really think they will start trashing the headcoach? Maybe they were simply waiting for the hammer to come down.
Torts pulled off one of the greatest playoff upsets in NHL history.
But Torts is an old school retread coach with a known temper. So people are going to react badly when he is hired. He was never fired because of a scandal of manipulation and poor treatment of players.Wouldn't have known it from the way everybody reacted.
What did he do with the younger players?there is a chance they did not know what he did with the younger players.
We'd previously hired a guy about whom similar stories were told and not only did he turn out to be much more of a generally decent person than advertised, he's still the winningest coach in franchise history. It's not unusual that folks here might get to thinking that It's All Just Paper Talk.
It worked the first time beyond anyone's wildest expectations, so he tried to catch lightning in a bottle twice.
What did he do with the younger players?
That probably had more to do with beef with Hartley that year + the reported fights and arguments w/ Gillis + Canucks ownership. People tend to be prisoners of the moment.Wouldn't have known it from the way everybody reacted.
