How about the Jets PK that made things look worse? Or should we just cherry pick? I think St Louis had 5 shots on one PP in the first game, not to mention the goals.
So wait, you're saying the games weren't coin flips then?

Agree -
The question is, will our team (best players) play a D style game knowing that is likely the only way we can compete - especially against teams as good as the Blues. Is it coaching or one dimensional players?
What do you do? Make a few high profile moves or fire the coach (or both)?

We will win a few based on pure offensive domination - but not against this level of competition.
Agreed but i would like to see 1 game this season with everyone in our lineup before i say blow it all up .

Sat behind the bench on Friday and watched the bench again today.

Yes players are mad when losing and happy when winning but I didn’t any we are in it together behaviour in the last two games.

Not much talking on the bench in Friday’s game.

I am starting to believe a coaching change is in order. Also try to butter up the pig all you want but or defence isn’t good enough.

Many players a failing the eye test though. Posts or no Posts.

I feel I don’t need to list the culprits but here you go anyways...

Fefe completely disinterested out there
Wheels shifts are ridiculously long making him ineffective
Connor ALOW for a chunks of games
Lowry see Fefe
Applecart back to the Moose!
Bourque not NHL grade FW

Sisba, Potatoe, Bolo are ALL none NHL grade D.

The PoMo time is done here. We will get nothing much done with him here . 4th line gets you a goal and then you don’t play them forever!?!? Pfffft. Rev up the fire PoMo thread.

Yeah it’s Maurice’s fault that the team failed to split the games against the champ while missing three forwards and a defender, with an already depleted team.

No, I’m saying they were. I just replied to the part that said the stats looked more even because of the Jets PP, that you can’t cherry pick sections, and countered with that the PK made them look even more uneven.

I did not even realize that Wheeler played today.

He did nothing.
Lol this is rich. On the pp alone he fed Schiefele for a slot 1T and Laine for a couple chances he just missed. He was also central in a few periods of sustained danger for the Blues in their zone.

The Jets didn't finish. That happens to all teams.

Considering we are missing Little, Byfuglien, Copp, Perrault, and Kulikov, yet we gave the Stanley cup and West leading Blues all they could handle, that should be cause for optimism.

I guess you're a cup empty kinda guy.

In my opinion, Lowry is a fourth line centre playing a role above his capability. I have absolutely no issue with his effort level, and I suppose this is more of a statement of Maurice misevaluating talent than not holding a player responsible but if you play the minutes that Lowry plays, you need to provide at least something in the offensive zone. Lowry has consistently shown he can’t provide that and still plays relatively heavy minutes.
And who should get more minutes then Lowry at centre. Answer no one . Maurice is playing his 3rd best centre as a 3c. The problem is Chevy after all these years still hasn't found a 3rd line centre. But keep on blaming maurice for chevys shortcomings.

Yup , lose a couple games and Fire the coach , fowards all such , D are brutal , goalie sucks , the Jets suck , my life is over , where's that rope so i can go hang myself . HF boards is so predictable .

I actually did not mind either game . We created lots of scoring chances and seem to carry the play fairly often . It's to bad we only got 1 point out of those two games but i tip my hat to St Louis . Off to the next game , Go Jets Go !!!!!
I'd say...

Don't fire the coach.

Forwards are thin due to injuries, and need to be more consistent defensively.

D is brutal.

Chevy should hold tight and not try to buy to make this team into more than it can be for the playoffs. It's a very strong young roster and there's lots to build around. But not this year.

I’m not unhappy with how the Jets played, in the first game especially but to say that over this two game period they gave the Blues “all they could handle” is quite the stretch. And can we even consider Byfuglien as part of the team? I suppose in that same vein we’re missing Trouba. You can’t be missing someone that you never had in the first place. And Kulikov? Really?

I’ll grant you the other three with the caveat that if you can’t survive the loss of two bottom six forwards and a middle six guy, you probably weren’t that good to begin with.

Why are people so hard on Scheifele? Didn’t see him do anything too bad, except that one play in OT last game. Is there a specific play they are referring to? Or is it the general grumpiness after a loss?
It's the many plays in his own zone where he's too casual and fails to check an opponent or clear the zone. It results in extended time stuck in the D zone, resulting in more chances against, fewer chances for, and taking too many penalties.

We are at best a wildcard team this season.
I am watching this team and honestly seeing overachievers that relied on goaltending to bail them out.

Hellebuyck is back to earth and looking more like he did last season.
As I wrote in the GDT the Jets overachieved thus far and seems like reality is finally taking hold. At the start of the season I predicted the team would fight for WC 1/2 position but was willing to eat crow. I may not have to get the silverware out after all.

2-1 in the third became 3-1 in the third on dumb f*** Charron biting on a blatant loser dive.

'Hate-speech' Binnington was good in net for the Blues.

Coaching continues to be a issue. In some areas we have improved.

What disappointments me about our coaching staff is that when you see 4 stretch passes in 1.5 periods ONLY when your doing a line change you would figure that it could be a problem. Wasnt till the 5th one they scored on did we decide to fix it.

Preventive action is worth 10x more then reactive.

Over all I thought we played well 3 posts hurt. Without absolutely league leading goaltending we are a avg. Team with that back end.

I said this earlier and seen a few mention about it but I do see the Jets making any changes this year, this is who we have and who will play depending on injuries, if we make the playoffs fine if not bring in guys from the Moose and lets have a look, before that I would like to see if Niku gets a call up after a few weeks of conditioning.

It was a sloppy change with apples basically crawling off the ice - how is that a coaching issue? He should have been benched after that effort.
Those stretch passes only work on a bad change and this was a bad change.
How many of those stretched didn't work because the change was clean and we didn't get caught with one guy back.

Seriously are you blaming Hellebuyck for the loss?
Maybe if he had defencemen who can keep the crease clean or have a coaching staff who knows how to make line changes ... Hellebuyck would have had his 4th shutout of the season.

It's easy to second guess the coach but IMO his biggest mistake was not starting Hellebuyck after he shutout the Wild vs the Habs. I don't think I ever saw that before ... your #1 goalie gets a shutout and you don't play him the next game with a 3 day break coming up.
