I hate to say I told you so, but:

nov 24:

season so far:

HDCF% 40.09% 31st in the league
PP% 18.5% 19th in the league
PK% 72.3% 30th in the league

Atleast the PP is better...

You wouldn't happen to know how to separate the stats from before Wheeler was placed as the #2 center to the previous composition? Any way to compare those?

I only ask because you are so brilliant with the stats.

The quickest way Maurice could get himself fired is to start calling out your star players

Either they are the best players and we win or not

I haven't liked the 2nd line for the past 2 games but the Blues are a heavy team and they seem to not play well against those guys.

Our lack of D depth will hurt us but this was a winnable game and if we don't hit those posts we might be walking out of here with 2 points

And the goal differential now has the Jets at 18th overall (and falling fast). No team below them is a +. That is a true indicator that they are a marginal playoff team.

Post-game audio:

Players: Shore & Pionk.

Coach Maurice scrum topics: Assessment of the game. On the poor Jets line change which made it 2-1 for the Blues. What did he learn about his group in the two games against the Blues? Getting the good feeling back for his PK units. Play of the fourth line. Two wins in eight games. Three posts on the power plays.

We are at best a wildcard team this season.
I am watching this team and honestly seeing overachievers that relied on goaltending to bail them out.

Hellebuyck is back to earth and looking more like he did last season.

Quick thoughts...

CSL - Played reasonably well in the offensive zone and on the PP but just nothing in the D zone again. Time to split up Connor and Scheifele. Flip Connor and Ehlers.

EWR - Really poor game. Wheeler had no juice tonight. Ehlers is lacking some punch and Roslovic was invisible. Jets won't get anywhere if their top two lines aren't going strong.

BLA - WTF??? Worst game from a Lowry line in a long time. Bourque is too slow to play with Lowry. Appleton with his worst game with the Jets. Just brutal play in his zone, with several giveaways.

HSS - Nice game from Harkins, but let's not go overboard. He isn't the answer for higher in the lineup. The team needs Copp and Perreault and Little to solidify the bottom 6.

44-3 Still waiting for Morrissey to regain form. He's playing so passively, like when he was sent back to the AHL. I wonder if he's still tentative about his injury. Poolman was okay. He lacks some hockey sense, but he works hard. I think he could be a better Chiarot with more experience.

5-4 Sbisa has gotten on my last nerve. He's terrible with the puck. He's tentative and slow in puck retrieval. Add a dumb penalty and he needs to sit. Pionk needs a medal for playing hard minutes with Sbisa.

88-2 Just two replacement level or worse D trying to manage a regular NHL role. No mystery about Bitetto's deficits. Now, we can clearly see Beaulieu's deficiencies, too.

Hellebuyck was okay. Binnington was better.

I think we are now seeing the inevitable decline in a team with 4 replacement and below level D and 3 key forwards out. Jets' fans probably shouldn't expect playoffs this season. I don't. Now I hope Chevy makes the right decisions to reload through the rest of the season and prepares for a busy off-season.

Didn't include the PK and PP as they have nothing to do with this... *Stats are team wide, not just Wheeler on ice

Feels unfair. Jets had three posts, if any of those had gone in they could very well have won. 1 point out of 4 in an even series, that was decided by goaltending (Binnington was a wall in the second game), with lots of bad luck on the Jets side, is an unlucky result.

A goalie who was in the Vezina conversation a month ago is now coming back down to earth and a team is being what every analyst has expected them to be? I. Am. Shocked.

The team has been playing well in Hellebuyck’s slump. Look at any of the top teams, they would be bottom feeders with a slumping goalie.

It actually does considering how bad they have been since basically losing to Vegas in the West Finals.

It does not make sense to think that there is not a coach out there worse than Maurice right now. He may be past his prime here but let's not pretend that anyone is better.

I don't know how a 99 point season is bad either but we're in the land of hyperbole where someone is either literally the worst possible option or is elite. Nothing in between.

It appears so. The Jets "stars" simply cant / dont play well enough without the puck to make up for the crappy D and not having stellar goaltending.

What is shocking is how bad the special teams are.

The PP is shocking - we have the horses to get it done on the PP -actually, it's looked a little better lately regardless of the numbers - they are getting shots and better possession time.

The PK is no surprise IMO - we don't have the big bodies on the back end that you need to break up board battles or front net congestion.
In front, we are missing pcs like Tanev and more recently, Lit's and Copp. All 3 are good PK players that were replaced with . . .

Yup , lose a couple games and Fire the coach , fowards all such , D are brutal , goalie sucks , the Jets suck , my life is over , where's that rope so i can go hang myself . HF boards is so predictable .

I actually did not mind either game . We created lots of scoring chances and seem to carry the play fairly often . It's to bad we only got 1 point out of those two games but i tip my hat to St Louis . Off to the next game , Go Jets Go !!!!!

Was he a dumpster fire tonight? In all situations he faced an xGA of 4.7 and 19 HDCA.

He was mediocre tonight. His last 10 games? His average save % is probably somewhere around 860. I haven't done the math though. That's dumpster fire quality.

edit: I did the math, his save % over the last 7 of his starts are 884.
