21 games for Sens remaining. Their next four are Blue Jackets, Blackhawks, Kraken, Canucks. Very possible to win all those and be or a point or two out of a playoff spot.

But right after those four is Flames, Oilers, Avalanche, Maple Leafs, Penguins, Bruins, Lightning, and Devils. Pretty brutal lineup right there.

Penguins, Islanders, Sabres, Sens, Panthers, Caps, and Red Wings are all neck and neck for the two wild card spots. It's going to be close, but I think they will just miss out of the playoffs by a point or two.

The pick (this yrs draft) could be anywhere between 6 and 28. Is that correct? Otherwise pushed to next year

There is every chance that Red Wings end up getting better 1st from the Hronek deal. That would be brutal for the Coyotes.
It was brutal the second the trade was finalized. Ottawa and Buffalo have their destiny in there own hands. One of the two could very easily get the wild card with games in hand.

You’ll drive yourself insane living and dying with every Senators result.
I watched a bit of the Senators / Rangers game and was very impressed with the Senators. I see they had Chych play on the PK and he led the team in blocked shots with 5.:)

 BA was bragging how good this pick is going to be. It could easily be in the 20's. Should have included another 2nd. if that happens. Oh well.

I think its easier to move from 18th pick to 11th than it was moving from 28th pick. BA is positioning himself to grab players his scouting staff are pounding the table for. It’s more chess than checkers. Maybe we get lucky and Ott craps bed (believe me Sens fans were shitting their pants when Chychrun laid on the ice for 3 minutes) but if they don’t AZ will have to get more creative potentially if they don’t feel that the guy they want isn’t going to make it to that selection.

Ok. So any loss in the next four is very exciting. And any win in the following eight is devastating.

Fingers crossed they go 4-8 (of course not in the way you’d expect - so, like 3-7-2 or something and mixed between the segments).

If the Ottawa pick ends up around 13th, where it was when they acquired it, and if BA is able to use the extra budget room from not eating dumps to pick up a couple extra 2nd rounders this summer, he’s done very well on this trade.

If Ottawa makes the playoffs and the dump market becomes less favorable (leaving him with only a couple of 3rds) then this trade is bordering on extremely bad.

With the way things go, that likely means Ottawa will miss on a tie-breaker, and the dump market will dry up only partially, and we’ll end up with pick 16 and just one extra dump 2nd.

In which case Chychrun will have gone for a mid-first and three 2nds. Which is basically just the expected return of two late firsts and a late second. Haha. But with tons of arguing and insulting and hand wringing in between.

I can't believe anyone would think we got what BA said he wanted on this trade. We didn't, any way you slice it. Like I have said, BA way over valued Chych. We now have to hope Ottawa collapses down to the 6th-8th pick, but not the 5th or lower for this trade to work out, and they have been playing really well lately. What is more likely is they climb in the standings and we get a pick in the 20s, making the trade even worse.

I don't think there will be much arguing and hand wringing.I believe prevailing mood will be fatigue

Stop it. BA got fleeced, plain and simple. Was it his fault or ownership who knows, but this was a terrible trade.

I don't think BA over valued Chych at all. Not taking money back was the reason he got bent over. If that was BA's thinking or ownership who knows, but it was a great deal for Ottawa and Chych. Let's not forget, this was going on for a year, a this is the best he could do. Ottawa didn't even lose a roster player.

It's not only the first pick, it's about the whole package coming back that counts. Chych was never going to Pitts, Boston or Washington. You guys are hung up on this one pick. We may never know but I bet we hear rumblings there were better deals out there but BA or AM did not want to take money back.
