Confirmation on no contracts back by Agent in case anyone still wanted it???

Yeah, I know the wound is still fresh, but I think we can save the talking head spin from Canadian radio, can't we? Gonna be a lot of that over the next week or two.
It's Chychrun's Agent. Thought people might like to put the pieces together. It's not Bill's fault there GMs don't see the player Coyote's fans do?? Time will tell who was right.

About that Chychrun wanting out?

Bill dropped his ask and imo its was the right play. I think it would have been really bad to keep Chychrun after sitting him for weeks and trying to trade him for over a year. The market had spoken.

Correct, and after they approached him he jumped at it after he had discussions with his family.

Why do you think Chych wanted out? Chych's dad works for the Panthers and I bet they knew damn well how deep the problems were/are with the Coyotes. I can just hear it now that BA approached Keller and Keller has decided to move on, so we will try and move him. The players talk, they know how short careers are. The only players we can keep are salary dumps and young drafted kids with no leverage. It is what it is. Time to move on. What time do the Avs play tonight?:)
One way or the other, we should finally know where we stand at the end of this season. The roster nuking part of the rebuild is over and the stadium drama ends soon. We'll have a new season with an influx of young talent and actually trying to win with a happy owner and his real estate project and tax breaks or the vote will be no and I'll stop watching hockey because we won't have a team.

I think the ask was there but because of cap a player had to come back, which is understandable, but ownership said no. I agree about not retaining on Chych, there was no need.

Just keep Schmaltz. He’s a point per game player. Overpaid? Nope.
I doubt Schmaltz will be here at next training camp.

Bummer we approached him. One of my favorite Coyotes and we asked him to leave
Thus solidifying chych into the hall-of-fame. He's going to be filthy up in Ottawa while we watch our top 13 pick bounce between Tucson and 10 minutes a game in Tempe for years to come.

Two things I really don't like - Canadian hockey radio, and agent interviews. I wouldn't trust an agent's view of things any more than I would trust Tucker Carlson or Rachel Maddow.

Keep on telling your self that. ONE top 15 pick is nice, but there had to be more for a player like Chych. I'm sure you know that Ottawa was the last straw. BA blew it with LA and Edmonton, and probably more teams because he wouldn't or couldn't take money back. Whatever, it's done, it is what it is. Same old hope and a prayer. Rinse and repeat.
You ALWAYS talk about how we don't know what's really going on behind closed doors but now you have an inside source? Maybe it was more than just money back. Maybe they wanted him to take back contracts with term and he didn't want to be saddled. Maybe they wanted to include crappy prospects and he wanted picks like he said in the interview. Maybe they wanted him to retain. We just don't know. I still think the top 15 pick is what he wanted.

I would rather have one top 15 pick over two picks in the 20-32 range. Next year will be something. With scoring from the Hayton line (would never have imagined posting this last year) and the Cooley-Guenther line the Coyotes will see a major increase in points for. I don’t think a tank will be feasible next year. Bring up Jenik to play w McBain and Crouse and, off wing or not, that’s a great 3rd line.

I don't know if the Sens will win anything or if Chychrun will help them move to the next level but his point totals should be off the charts with how they play and the talent they have upfront. Wonder if he joins Chabot on PP or how long until he knocks him off PP1?

How do you know it's prime? We don't even know who the hell it is. But that isn't the point, it's what kind of package he got back for arguably your best player.
You do know I watch junior hockey when I'm not watching the Coyotes right? I do a list every year. Develop opinions of the players.

I will make my list and judge the selection from there but based on what i have seen from this draft crop so far this year I like the players that will be in that 10-15 range. It's a good top heavy draft.

I’ve lost confidence in the GM, combined with ownership financial stipulations, to creativity secure a fair return for Schmaltz…..so agree keep him.

Doesn't matter what you or I think, only the end result matters. Why not take contracts with term if you get a better return? It's not like we are in a win now mode.

Look, I understand a pick in the teens is nice, but again, you are missing the point. It's the total package what pisses me off. I don't care about the seconds we got, that should have been the third piece we got. We missed the second piece all together.

I do wonder if in addition to injury concerns GMs are also put off by his lone playoff appearance. He didn't play well against either the Preds or Avs that year and so there may be concerns if he can truly step it up when the pressure really hits.

As far as the yotes asking Chych if he wanted to stay it's important to recall that Chych flooded his socials with a bunch of crying emojis like a teen getting dumped on prom after Dvorak got traded. No surprise the team would do a temp check on the guy.

So best case scenario we need Ottawa to bottom out and get that first as close to sixth overall without winning a lottery.

If they make the playoffs though, what do we want? An early exit so the 2023 is as early as possible, or hope they go on a run to the final four so we can unlock that 2024 first rounder?

Is it the GM or ownership?
Both IMO. If BA was limited financially why didn’t he bring in a 3rd team to help retain on Chychrun….even if it cost 1 or 2 of our flock of 3rd rounder picks.

Ottawa's pick currently sits 13th.

Can you guess where Boston, Edmonton, Toronto and Carolina will pick compared to Ottawa? Does an average of 27th sound right?

We paid 27th, 34th, and 45th overall to get the 11th overall last year.

That’s a late first, an extremely early 2nd and a mid-2nd. Or if you want to simplify, “a 1st and two 2nds”. We got an additional two 2nds from Ottawa.

Both IMO. If BA was limited financially why didn’t he bring in a 3rd team to help retain on Chychrun….even if it cost 1 or 2 of our flock of 3rd rounder picks.
Securing brokers for multi-year deals is more costly.
