I don't hate this trade necessarily. Feels a bit like the Walker trade to improve the third pair. Walker was viewed better at the time of the trade, but his tenure was pretty far off that expectation.

Question is are they done on D? Is Manson the second pair RD going into the playoffs? If so taht would be disappointing because defense was their biggest area of need IMO.

Edit: Shit just saw Jones got traded. Bridesmaids again.

Maybe Kadri and Andersson is still a possibility? If so, they needed a third pair LD that could skate to pair with Manson anyway. So maybe Lindgren plays better in Colorado and this works out ok.

Let’s break this down…

Getting:

Lindgren - A bottom pairing defenseman who has been getting caved in and fallen off a cliff for the past 2-3 years.

Vesey - Useless, journeyman plug for the 4th line or a healthy scratch.

Kempf - A 22 year old, 7th round pick. Zero value.

Giving:

Parssinen - Gave up a 3rd round pick for him 2.5 months ago.

2nd round pick - Whichever is the higher of the two 2nds.

4th round pick - Whichever is the higher of the two 4ths.

This is brutal.

Perhaps, but now look at it from the perspective that CDH should not have been in the lineup, those picks probably wouldn't have turned into anything on the Avs, and Parssinen wasn't playing.

It's basically a free asset to play on the third pair.

I don't mind the target but I don't like the price. Feels like CMac overpaying is becoming a regular occurrence. And not necessarily for the right targets. Overpay for Jones and beat the Panther's price instead.

Feels like we're done on D

Toews - Makar
Girard - Manson
Lindgren - Kylington/Malinski

If Behrens was healthy we probably could have saved ourselves a 2nd rounder on a move like this.

Just like Lindgren but he wouldnt have cost a 2nd and 4th
Valimaki and Lindgren play just about as opposite stylistically as you can. It's clear what the Avs were targeting - blocked shots, physicality, etc. Lindgren has a long history of strong play high in the lineup on a good team. Valimaki had one good season. They are not the same.

Pretty clear we weren't going to pay Chicago's price on Jones so we went to the junk yard and still got ripped off
Tough to say, maybe the deal was there but Jones preferred Florida. Or Davidson didn't like the pieces that Avs were offering as much as Spencer Knight. 1st rounder in 2 years and a player who's already been in PAP for, what, $12-15 million actual dollars seems super low, no?

Yeah @forsbergavs32 I expect detailed breakdowns of how all the GM's that helped build a Stanley Cup winner as AGM, didn't screw their team by not duplicating that success the few years after under a stagnant cap, on our desks first thing in the morning.

And he lives on the IR - just our type!

No Lindgren is a solid add. I just don't like giving up 2nd + Parsinnen in the deal. I knew the Avs were going to give up on Parsinnen too early. He would have been really solid playoff depth. I know Vesey will provide that but I think he would have really helped us next season.

But Bednar hates him for whatever reason. Also seems like CMac is constantly bending to include extra picks in every big deal these days. 4th shouldn't have been necessary
The 4th was for the retention most likely.
