I wouldn’t take Dvorak back if he paid the Habs league minimum
Please Kent, end this guy.

I disagree If Hage is the one we need to add to trade to get us a 2nd line center I would do it. Hage is not a sure thing and being a Hab fan growing up doesnt do jack for us. We don't need "stories" we need actual on ice talent so we aren't wasting away our young players on 8 year deals only to get a 2nd line center halfway through or even worse before those contracts end. We need to fill the 2nd line center and RD holes ASAP and not wait on prospects.
But here I was replaying to them adding to a number 1 38 yo Centre . So no I won’t be trading him for 3 years if Crosby. But then again I am extremely high on hage … and if history is anything to go by he will bust just cause I am high on him

I agree, Bergevin wasted the prime Price years. We can’t do that again

How about trying to get Barbashev from Vegas? Could help Demidov adapt to North America and the NHL next year.

Pretty sure he would be back nearer to his career 60-point season playing with, say, Slafkovsky and Demidov next year?

Turned 29 this last December and signed for three more years, until his 32nd birthday at 5M per season.

Evans + Armia half retained + Mailloux + PIT 2025 second rounder

VS Barbashev

Caufield - Suzuki -Slafkovsky
Heineman - Barbashev - Laine
Newhook - Beck - Anderson
F. Xhekaj/Davidson - Dvorak - Gallagher

to end the year and give an audition to both F. Xhekaj and Davidson.

Next year:

Caufield - Suzuki - Laine
Slafkosvsky - Barbashev - Demidov
Heineman - Beck - Roy
Anderson - Newhook - Gallagher

Barbashev would make a pretty good stop-gap, I think.

Well, Dvorak is playing very good hockey for quite some time now. He's pretty good now. Not 4M good, but 2M x 2 years good. 7th C with the most PK time in the NHL, yet he's 28th for goals allowed (that's f***in great). Meanwhile, his expected goal for % is third C material, and on the upper hand. He benefits from playing with Gally and Anderson, but it's a two-way truth, they benefits from playing with him.

I don't know if he can keep this pace, but he's actually accelerating. Both Gally and Anderson signed for 2 more years, I'd probably offer a 2 years deal at 2M ich and call if a great safety net.
Okay he’s been good for a week. What about the other 55 games where he’s a complete no show as soon as the puck is dropped?

Sorry but this is also recency bias. The guy has been dogshit his entire tenure in Montreal. The most bland nothing player to exist. Not good offensively, not good defensively. Not a good skater, not a hard forechecker. He might as well not have a name or number on his jersey, he’s the most vanilla player imaginable.

I would add Dach to the dogshit pile as well what a waste trading Romanov for this bum. The guy has been a huge dissapointment his whole time in Montreal outside of a fluke hot streak.

It's possible for sure, but I think it's more likely they end up WC2. Worst case is we finish 11th and Calgary ends up 10. lol.

If Calgary's pick is top 15 that's a heck of a trade.
Kinda fun to watch.. like a mini lottery.. hugo aces at gambling without a big loss..

The FLA pick could have been like #15, should have been #17, but ended up being #30.. thats was brutal luck... hopefully this card hits two AA for 11th

Pretty sure that my ENTIRE post is not based on what happened...but the strategy RIGHT now. So not sure what your point is about me not liking it based on how they executed it...that wasn't my point at all. I'm talking about NOW. Us being close at making it while CLEARLY knowing it won't go far. Yes, I do recognize that at one point, making the playoffs while not being a top 3 favorite WILL be necessary and WILL be part of a plan. You need your kids to lose before you win. You need your kids to learn what the playoffs beast is all about. But we are not there just yet.

As far as accumulating the picks FOR THE SAKE OF IT.....I hope you know it' smore than that. I mean, Accumulating the picks made us being able to pick Beck and wait for Hutson. Accumulating picks is what permitted us to get our hands on Hage etc. While the fun part for draft lovers are just teams picking kids and loving it or hating it....accumulating picks is so much more than that right now for us. Trading Monahan was about accumulating picks. And while it's not necessarily the answer for all 'cause you are subject to how your draft guys do, accumulating picks means getting your hands on Stutzle and Sanderson. Just like it gave the possiblity to Boston to get their hands on Chabot, Connor and Barzal before f***ing it up....lol

Right now, as draft lover as I am, I couldn't care less about getting an additional 5th round pick. Unless you are able to package it to get a better 3rd rounder or whatever.

I honestly have no clue what you're actually trying to suggest.

The strategy hasn't changed since they took over. The approach (or tactics or priorities, however you want to frame it) are evolving, over time, as the roster and org. depth/assets evolve.

KH has been nothing if not consistent in both discourse and action. This year no different. What he does this week will depend on what's available & what's on offer, but it's unlikely they undermine the teams present competitive ability unless a high bar offer is met. And it's unlikely they aggressively pursue a top 6/top 4 rental unless the fit is viewed as more long term.

Fits the strategy perfectly. If you dislike the strategy, so be it :dunno:

a 40 points hustler at 7m a year
yeah might as well call keep Dach
Cozen: Someone with a motor on an awful, losing team who might have upside to do more with a better team
Dach: Lazy and devastated by injuries and has had half the career of Cozens

You can dislike Cozens all you want and think he's not the right target but he's not comparable to Dach.
