I mean, what this trade tells me is that the market is almost barren out there for competent NHL defensemen on expiring contracts due to the general lack of sellers this year. We'll see what Dumoulin fetches out of Anaheim in the coming days I'm sure, and see if we paid more than we should have for Lindgren

I'm assuming that CMac knew for sure that he wanted to upgrade our bottom six mix, and was worried about there being no options in the market, which I'm sure he can better judge as I'm assuming there have been many trade discussions in the past weeks

Sucks to have burned essentially a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th on a retained Lindgren, but the 3rd was already lost as Parssinen is basically a warm body now

I mean... yeah, kinda.

Vesey's going to get into games for sure. But he's certainly not bouncing anyone out of the lineup. He's been healthy scratched a million times this year.

Doesn't mean he might not make an impact. Nico Sturm only played 13/20 playoff games during the Cup year and had a moment or two. Same with Aube-Kubel (14/20) and even Newhook (12/20). I just see it as a depth puzzle piece add that keeps Wagner out of the line-up.
Today I learned Nico Sturm and NAK played in more games than Newhook during the cup run.

Newhook is like having a rash on your balls. Even once it clears up the bad memories remain. And you remember it worse than it really was.

CMac for sure knows we need to upgrade 2C. The question is… what 4C out there can we get and force to be a 2C?

If this body language doesn’t scream winner I don’t know what does?

Now get rid of Manson, Wood, trade for Brandon Carlo, and Jake Evans.

Lehkonen - MacKinnon - Necas
Drouin - Mittelstadt - Nichushkin
Colton - Drury - Evans
Vesey - Kelly - Vesey

Toews - Makar
Girard - Carlo
Lindgren - Kylington

A man can dream…

It was almost unanimously acknowledged that Toews was playing through an injury.

No idea what you're banging on about.

Perhaps it's you who needs to watch Mittelstadt a bit more because he is and has been without question horrible for months.

It certainly was NOT unanimously acknowledged that he was playing through an injury. I mentioned it and a few others as well but the bashing continued because that's what people seem to enjoy doing.

What I'm banging on about is that roughly 25% of the people on here don't seem to remember anything that's happened beyond the last few months. (some the last few weeks)

It doesn't mean that anything prior didn't happen, doesn't exist or doesn't have value.

I see a ton of stuff being written about Mitts and most of it is complete horseshit. Stuff like : he's lazy - not if you're WATCHING the games - he's f***ing trying out there - he's skating his ASS OFF - and sure even his top speed is just regular speed for most of our team but he's not f***ing lazy. I see stuff like "oh he loses every single board battle" - he does lose his share (and a lot more than he use to) but he also has his share of takeaways and good defensive plays but those don't get talked about at all.

I can easily see that he's certainly not perfect and hasn't been the same guy that we got when he first came to the Avs and throughout the first month and a half of this season. That guy, was confident and excellent - I don't think anyone had any problems with that Mitts.

It's difficult to determine what happened - maybe an injury, maybe a conditioning issue, maybe it's simply just a loss of confidence but the problem is - the Avs are in no position to wait and hope that he gets himself through it and back to the player he was before.

This doesn't mean that he has ZERO value throughout the league - like many superstar posters here would have anyone believe. He has value especially if he goes to a team that doesn't require him to be a much better skater than he actually is.

Some of us dream about Crosby on the Avs. Others dream about the Laurens. Still others seem to have much more modest dreams.
And some of us (like the person you quoted) can dream of anything they want yet still dream of Mittelstadt at 2C, Colton on the roster, and two Veseys at both LW and RW in the fourth line.

Not the kind of twins I'd dream of but some people really like Jimmy Vesey.

Hopefully when the trade deadline passes, and as he gets more time with Nuke the confidence starts to return.

Right now he's playing 3rd D, but he has some nasty outlet passes so it works with Nuke there.

I don't think they're trading him. There just isn't a move available that makes sense.

I wanted the defense shored up at a high level though, and that is even harder now.

Time to buckle up when it comes to Mitts and the 2C issue.

Trading for Jake Evans to put him on the wing sounds like a waste.

He’s a very good center. Faceoffs, two-way play, shutdown assignments, etc.

Natural, pure center.

I understand Jimmy Vesey is one of the Veseys in the fourth line, but who's the other one?

Rangers fan coming in peace. Lindgren gets flack because he exclusively plays on the top pairing with Fox and therefore matches up with the opposition's best players. It's our organizational weakness that thrusts him into situations above his skill set.

As a mid-to-bottom pairing guy + PK you guys are going to love him. He skates well, is decently physical, and shows up every night.

That's what we need to hear. Thanks.
