Rangers fan coming in peace. Lindgren gets flack because he exclusively plays on the top pairing with Fox and therefore matches up with the opposition's best players. It's our organizational weakness that thrusts him into situations above his skill set.

As a mid-to-bottom pairing guy + PK you guys are going to love him. He skates well, is decently physical, and shows up every night.
And he lives on the IR - just our type!

No Lindgren is a solid add. I just don't like giving up 2nd + Parsinnen in the deal. I knew the Avs were going to give up on Parsinnen too early. He would have been really solid playoff depth. I know Vesey will provide that but I think he would have really helped us next season.

But Bednar hates him for whatever reason. Also seems like CMac is constantly bending to include extra picks in every big deal these days. 4th shouldn't have been necessary

He has now been in the dog house for 2 different teams. Although he has shown some skill, that doesn't matter if you can't gain the confidence of your coach to get the playing time to show it

Brunette should be fired and Bednar just picks favourites. I didn't see anything in Parssinen's game that suggested he should sit for Wood. I could be wrong but it's a good grab by the Rangers.

I don't get it myself, Parsnip looked like he could be a decent 3rd line forward with some offensive upside and Bednar was having none of it.

Some perspective here (I don't get the negativity):

Lindgren
AVS fans have been absolutely ruthless with their assessment of De Haan since he got here (and I think unfairly). Numbers wise, 0 goals, 7 assists, minus 8 in 44 games (34 years old is September), and being scratched regularly. So we bring in New Yorks top pairing D-man, 2 goals, 17 assists, plus 1 in 54 games (to play on our 3rd pairing - and is just 27), and it really hasn't ruined us cap wise because of the salary retention.

At a bare MINIMUM, this is an upgrade on defense (statistically). I mean, we are talking a player who's +100, after 387 games, and a further +11 in 43 playoff games (a player, despite being 6 years younger than De Haan already has a fair bit more playoff experience.)

Vesey
Vesey has scored almost 15 goals 5 out of his 9 seasons for a Rangers team, not really that fueled for offense (well, not like us anyways). Put him on a line with Drury and say LOC or someone, that's probably as gifted as we've been on the 4th line since 2022. Don't get me wrong, Parssinen was a good player for us (6 points, in 22 games) - and I do wish he got more of a shot, but he started getting scratched. IF at a minimum Vesey actually plays, this is yet another step up for us.

This also allows a player like Parker Kelly to play more in the AHL and develop (Kelly is an amazing talent, and his time will come). Wood is having his worst year offensively basically in his entire career, so I expect him to pick it up. But a bottom 6 of: Landeskog, Drury, Vesey, Colton, Wood, LOC and/or Kiviranta is immense guys - immense.

Love the Cmac. We are starting to catch light too guys. Chemistry is starting to click in and we are gelling now (as seen in the destruction of NJ and Minny). Telling you, bringing in a profile like Lindgren will boost our best players. Shows the team top to bottom the club is serious about winning a Stanley Cup.

He found himself in the doghouse immediately for no apparent reason.

IMO he had been better than Mittelstadt since he arrived, but the optics of playing Parssinen at 2C and benching Mittelstadt look awful. So, Parssinen gets the shaft.

I have a feeling he looks good in NY.

Hopefully when the trade deadline passes, and as he gets more time with Nuke the confidence starts to return.

Right now he's playing 3rd D, but he has some nasty outlet passes so it works with Nuke there.

I don't think they're trading him. There just isn't a move available that makes sense.

I wanted the defense shored up at a high level though, and that is even harder now.

Time to buckle up when it comes to Mitts and the 2C issue.
I don't necessarily agree.

I think there is a deal there to be made with Calgary, if the Avs want it.

It makes sense for both sides when you really think about it :

From a Calgary standpoint - they signed Kadri thinking they were going to be a playoff team - it hasn't happened and now three years later, Kadri is 34 years old (35 in October) with FOUR years left on his contract at $7M after this one. Conroy has said that they are looking to make moves for the future and it wasn't even Conroy that signed him, it's was Treliving. For them to get a 26 year old C like Mittelstadt AND get out from under that contract would have to be seen as a win especially if they believe that a guy like Mitts can find his game again playing in their system.

From a Colorado standpoint - it sucks to give up a 26 year old for a 34 year old but when you already know that the guy is going to fit your system and can be a difference maker in the playoffs, I think you have to bite the bullet and get it done. This year and next year should be ok but after that maybe not so much. By that time, maybe he's a #3C and the Avs would just have to hope that he ages like Jordan Staal.

I believe that salary retention would have always been the big hurdle in a Kadri reunion but now that the Avs know what the cap is going to look like in 3 years, that changes things.

So if the Avs are doing this one-for-one with no salary retention at all, I think Calgary makes that move. I'm not sure how many other contenders would be able to make that move with no retention. The actual difference in salary is $1.25M.

Congrats guys, you just got the best bleeder/60 in the NHL in Lindgren. He has been a warrior for the Rangers, but this year he has been really awful, like AHL awful. Hope he manages to play better for a new organisation, best of luck to him and Colorado. Vesey is a nice 4th liner who can play in the mid 6 for a few games if needed.

I get what you're saying, but to put that into perspective, it's like AVS deciding to say play Oliver Kylington with Cale Makar on the top pairing. They have very different skillsets. AVS defense (let's just be brutally honest here) is daylights ahead of New Yorks in terms of skill, compete, leadership, depth, quality and strength.

So just like Donskoi, Kadri, Burakovsky, Nichushkin, Girard, Toews etc, you watch Lingren (who is just 26-27) grow into a complete, rounded, classy character under the tutaledge of the AVS and Coach Bednar - around elite players. Imagine being surrounded by Makar, Toews (best pairing in the league), then you still have Girard, Manson, Kylington & many others around you. Be hard NOT to excel.

You'll see this as a huge loss my friend, so apologies in advance.

AHL awful ? Enjoy calvin dehaan

He will help The Tank I suppose 😄
I was going to suggest that he and his agent were sending out secret emails to opposing coaches with a 'menu of actions' to choose from. Something like this :

Miss the net on a shot from the point - $250
Go for a skate in the corner while trying to defend - $500
Terrible giveaway for no reason at all - $1000
Bad change leading to odd-man rush - $1500
Pass the puck towards our own bench while line is changing - $2000

This also allows a player like Parker Kelly to play more in the AHL and develop (Kelly is an amazing talent, and his time will come).

It's been pointed out he's the #1PK D for you guys. Is he actually good at it though?

Well.. Aj thinks the Avs are looking at ROR lol. So anything is possible.

This should get CMac fired. f***in Valimaki was basically free and im almost sure he has better fancy stats than this guy. A 2nd and a 4th for a guy who might be another Dehaan.

He's a warrior, and he's going from top pairing to the bottom pairing. He should be fine, and he is the type you want in the playoffs.

I don't love it, but it's reality now. There is some chance it turns out good.

I can only completely get on board with predicting hell fire, and hoping for the best to a certain extent.

DeHan vs Lindgren on your bottom pair? Yes we got better.
