If I'm correct, Kadri can any contract when he is younger than 35 (when his contract kicks in) and all of a sudden retire without any consequences to the team. It's not a good strategy though because you're signing a contract with a guy in hopes that he'll walk away from the money.

You forgot we got a lawyer who hates science in charge of the NHL. Teams will be able to argue that a couple of video clips of bone-headed plays is evidence of head trauma that requires the forced retirement of player X.

Kinda like a medical buyout where the player doesn't have a say in the matter. This is being done in "their best interests".

Article from the swedish tab Aftonbladet which followed Landeskog all day (that's where the photo is from as well). He started the day by bringing the cup to a children's hospice where the kids drank lemonade from the cup. I didn't know that Gabe's nephew (brother's son) died there. Then meatballs and pasta was eaten, and he brought it to different places around Stockholm that meant a lot to him growing up.

All in all the captain's cup day was very tame.
