Binnington .944 + .968

Husso .826 , 861, .882 + .923

They started scoring a ton immediately after the injury happened and that was no coincidence
2021

Binnington: .939 (L 4-1), .879 (L 6-3), .840 (L 5-1), .906 (L 5-2)

Again, he was saved by the Avs hitting posts in game 1 (in 2022). Regarding the .968, I'll point to his .939 in game 1 of 2021. He had a good game only to follow that up with games that looked like what you cite for Husso.

How can an NHL player retire a year early if he is still under contract until 22-23 season and looks as healthy as he has ever been? He is a property of Colorado Avalanche for one more year. The league will penalize Avs if they start to retire their players a year or two earlier then their contract is.

Edit, maybe there are rules if a player wins a SC they can retire sooner, who knows.

2021 has nothing to do with this. Binnington got hot and was playing great hockey in the 1st round as well. The injury definitely helped the Avs and they started putting the puck in the net a bunch once Husso stepped on the ice.

Players can retire whenever they want to. Issues only arise for the team based on the contract they signed (veteran contract, cap circumvention before structure changes, etc).

Except it does. The pattern is there. Look at it as many times as you need to.

The one good game doesn’t predict subsequent good games - if anything, it’s the opposite. The pattern each year is similar.
