Confirmed with Link: Avs sign Jonathan Drouin (1 year, 825k)

Very curious to see how they utilize him over the course of the year.

I think theres a discussion for him to play on the first PP unit. With RyJo almost assuredly part of the 1st unit as the bumper/creash crasher, it makes more sense to use Drouin as the down low guy. His passing would be ideal for hitting guys either cross crease or in the slot.

To me, it doesnt make sense to run both Nuke and RyJo on the same unit.

I like the idea of Drouin moving between the point and left half wall on PP2 feeding Byram either from the point or through the box for that deadly one timer from the right circle he likes to make.

Or Drouin in Mikko's spot moving from the right half wall to down low in the right corner, and hitting Byram with a pass back door for a wrister/cross body one timer from the left circle.

Those are two of Bo's best weapons and passes Jo can make.

The question on everyone's mind is did he call Kyle Quincey to make sure it's ok he wears #27???

I think we're gonna see a lot of nice passing plays from Drouin, but one thing I think we may see a lot of is Drouin setting up Nate in transition.

This used to be a big part of what Landy would do for Nate at LW. He'd slow the pace down so the opposition would slow down, then hit Nate up the middle in full slide to catch them flat footed.

I had been thinking this could be the case, but even more so when I was reminded of these plays in this video below. I think we'll probably see a lot of passes like the ones at 0:00, 1:41 and 1:55 of this video, especially short ones near the defensive blue line at 0:00 and 1:41.

And like you see in the first play Drouin can set up Nate this way, and then if the play isn't there, Nate can pull up like he's known to do and find Drouin coming in late. This is where their chemistry could pay big dividends.

It was around the time of that clip I stopped caring that Seth Jones was there to watch the team win the 2001 cup.

Yeah Nate definitely won that head to head matchup.

You could tell they both knew they were competing with each other too. They seemed to have an extra jump in their step when out against each other, and if there's one guy you don't want to have extra jump it's Nate. Made Seth look pretty silly on a few plays.

It'll be truly "free money" if that's right phrase, if their chemistry restarts within a few games.
Drouin come 2024 offseason:

I remember watching this game and all the hype about Jones likely going #1 to his hometown team. Mackinnon obviously wanted to prove something and he did that night. Glad we drafted him over Jones.

Friday night is cheat meal over here and I had a large poutine italienne for dinner. (Italian poutine is with bolognese sauce instead of brown gravy).

This sounds like a massive upgrade and actually good (I can’t stand gravy)
This sounds like a downgrade to me. Not that I wouldn’t eat a kilo of it, just I may prefer 2 kilos of poutine.

I'd say it's an upgrade 2 times out of 3. Sometimes traditional is better...but given the choice I slightly prefer Italian. The sauce has to be good though.

If you don't have the chance to eat poutine that often I understand why you'd go for traditional. There's no wrong answer anyway.

If you like gravy you can’t go wrong with a traditional poutine. I just don’t.

Bolognese and cheese (curds) is a more natural marriage than gravy and cheese.

You get the good poutine though that has cheese curds that still have a flavour. 90% of poutine I’ve had or seen other people eat in BC amounts to soggy ‘fries’ (more like boiled barely fried potatoes) covered in salty meat glue with flavourless curds. Good poutine is incredible so it sucks that it’s so hard to find here

This is how I feel about food, if you enjoy whatever, more power to you. I'll try most things once.

I'm personally not that into the lighter chicken stock based gravey. The white breakfast gravy is something I like though. Basically that over fried eggs cheese and potatoes is one of my favorite breakfasts lol. Not that far off..

Now if the bones were bolied, and it's made traditionally, and seasoned etc. Any gravy is amazing. There is just so much weak powder shit out there these days.

When we smoke a 3 or 4 bone prime Rib we always freeze the bones, and use them to make stock for Chilli or stew.

Give me Italian sauces all day every day in general.
