I don’t see why ERod is a significant upgrade over JTC? Maybe he’s better, but it’s not like JT didn’t have a crucial depth role in us winning the cup last year. Good signing with no real downside but he’s not going to change much about the team and the level we hit.

Maybe it was a flash in the pan for Erod, but JTC has no hope of ever replicating this level of play:

At minimum incredibly hard to do, but yeah. The Avs inability to get cheap depth from the system hurts.

But THIS season will be the one!

Also, this season might be the one we didn't offer four firstrounders for Shane Wright and signed Nathan MacKinnon longtime.

I mean last year definitely seems like a flash in the pan.

Last year was relatively similar.

Same with the year prior.

Not saying it’s a bad signing or anything but I think some of the expectations are a little out of whack for Erod. He brings solid depth no doubt, but 40/50pts is pushing it imo.

I like the Manson contract because he gives them something they otherwise don't have. Their other d"s aren't physical. Somebody has to make the other team keep their heads up. He also showed a great feel for when to jump up in the play during the playoffs. He has the wheels to do so and was very effective. That's an unusual combination of skills.

If I was ERod, I'd be firing my agent. He's pretty unlikely to get 8.5m for the next two years, even if he produces well.

He actually fired his agent at the beginning of free agency. It could be related to this.

Probably just depends on where he plays in the lineup and how much time he sees in the top-6.

There's no doubt that the same thing happened to Klingberg BTW. Fired his agent at the beginning of free agency and ended up signing a one year deal weeks later. Far from ideal when you're 30.

Now his next contract will start at age 31, term and AAV will take a big hit.
