Cap giving the new guy some love watching from home

Surprised to see mentions of the Avs not being able to capitalize on chances. It wasn’t some backup having a hot night, it was a guy who’s a top 3 goalie in the nhl. Shesterkin had at least 7-8 saves that were absolute robbery. Hell, Mikko could have had a hat trick against a good goalie last night.

The first goal was a good tip by Val and the 2nd goal was a misplay by Shesterkin. Those were what was going to be required to beat him. Sometimes you just have to tip your cap to one of the best goalies in the world.

Amazing game. I was iffy during the offseason about going into the year with George as our #1 but he's been awesome so far.

Also had no idea that Ranger fans hated Georgie so much. Don't even really understand it... anyone know why?

What's making Georgiev successful so far is his attitude. When he was asked about the system, he said stopping the puck is his system instead of worrying about how the d plays in front of him, trying to figure out stuff like that and over thinking, he just focuses on stopping pucks. His system is working so far
Yes, this is definitely a factor.

I also think an incredibly important factor is how quick he moves side to side. His athleticism is very high as is his agility.
Grubauer was athletic, but not necessarily quick.
Kuemper is your traditional shot blocker.

Grubs and Kuemper need to be in position to make saves whereas Georgiev can rely on his quickness to recover.

We've seen what Georgiev can do when he's hella motivated. Now he just needs to learn how to do that consistently.

I'm apprehensive that actually happens... but this Avs core with near-elite goaltending could do seriously damage for years.

Holy jesus these kids are triggered

Rangers fans are salty because Georgiev celebrated the win against his old team with a fist pump. Imagine being happy.
Imagine the feeling when you beat the goalie you've lost the starting position for a couple of years. The emotion really showed. Amazing game from George. The work with Parkkila is already bringing fruits on the table.

I'm just curious. Can anyone explain why Rangers fans hate George so much? Is it really because he punched that scumbag DeAngelo? If so they need to move the f*** on.
He was a part of a divide in the locker room (not just DeAngelo), pouted, and asked to be traded. It is pretty similar to Duchene the year around his trade.

So who had "ERod will deke the best goalie in the world out of his jock" on their bingo card heading into the season?
If he can make moves like that in shootouts he should be the first shooter ever time. Would be a huge advantage if you could get out to a quick lead.

I get being upset about that kind of situation. But Duchene got his chances on this team and was built around as "The Star" of the team. Georgiev ended up being phased out when Igor came in. Watching Igor play you can tell they made the right choice. But it's more justified to feel upset if you were never given a chance to prove yourself to the team. While Duchene got nearly a decade to prove he could lead this team to a cup.

While yes Igor is top tier, still need to be cashing in on some of the grade A chances. Not really robbing a guy when you shoot your grade A chances into the logo.

Last night should have probably been 4-2 win in regulation. But we got 2 points on the road against an elite team so not much to bitch about.

I agree, I don't see Duchene and George being similar situations at all.

Dutchy got tons of chances to make this this team, George got pushed out by Igor and just wanted an opportunity to be a starter somewhere. Seems like a fair ask from George. Whereas Dutchy cried about not winning and demanded out.

They did just get stonewalled by the goalie they traded away, that might explain some of the animosity.
Probably frustrating to watch your former backup out duel your all world starter.

It's also shit like this that gets me. These guys had Tony DeAngelo, Sean Avery, Matthew Barnaby, Ryan Reaves, and Ian Laperriere on their squads. Guys that are known to either be assholes or major shit stirrers. And a goalie upset about not getting to be a starter is the least likable and worst human to play for your team? Lol.

I really don't see much of a difference... kinda splitting hairs. Both were played by the org in the NHL before guys who replaced them in the core. Both had friction with their teammates. Both asked to be traded. It really isn't a a big deal. It is a business and sometimes players just are not the right fit with where a team is going. But the hatred of George is really about the same as the hatred of Duchene.

I never really hated Duchene. I think there are a few posters that do, but the majority seem to be pretty meh about it. Now that we've won a cup and beat Duchene en route, it's all been assuaged. Maybe it is somewhat similar and I wasn't as active during that season to see people crapping on Duchene the way the Rangers are crapping on George.

The Rangers fanbase is larger, and with that, you get more dummies. There will be a bit more volume just due to that.

There was plenty crapping on Duchene... especially as the Sens struggled and the Avs took off. In the end, it is a recent wound. Given some time it will be forgotten.

Yeah that's kind of ridiculous. No need to attack a former player with little to no evidence, just cause they don't like him.

I thought Lappy was a great guy, I don't know why he makes your list of assholes.
